University of North Carolina at Wilmington if by school spirit he means partying on the Outer Banks.

College of Charleston.

I interpret "school spirit" as referring to basketball & football teams.[/quote]

Fairfield decided to play the same games Northeastern does with gaming the system and obsessing over fooling people into thinking it is better than it is. Perfectly fine school, but it is punching above its weight.

Anonymous wrote:Univ of Dayton is farther but fits most of your other criteria. Great merit too and tuition stays the same all 4 years. Incredible school spirit.

Came here to say just this.

I have a Dayton grad and it was a great experience. Not too big, not too small, school spirit (talk to alums, they all still have great school spirit). And great merit aid.

The drive is longer, but an easy drive. And from the DMV, it’s beautiful through western MD.

How’s Dayton for a non-Catholic/non-Christian kid? I know there are many at Jesuit schools, but I don’t know anything about Marianists.

Elon recently acquired Queens which could lead to an interesting future in Charlotte. Charlotte is a hot city right now. Just ED to Elon and be done with it.

Only thing comparable is that they are both in NC, thank goodness.

Duquesne
Salisbury
American
Christopher Newport

Thank you. The vibe is important for my kid. He actually wants bigger, but we want him to have at least a couple of smaller but not tiny schools on his list. I personally loved American (he didn’t).

Our friends tell us American has zero school spirit.

It works for their DS for a variety of reasons. But I'm not surprised a kid who likes Elon was not a fan.

Went to AU. There was zero school spirit.

Yeah but that seems likely fudged somehow because when you look at their stats the SAT average is not that high (and they are TO). Maybe they get a ton of Int’l apps for some reason?

I’m no High Point booster but let’s not pretend Elon is really that different. Both are average private schools for rich kids.
