- about a 5-hour drive or less from the DMV in any direction (well, not east!).

SMU & TCU in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in Texas, but you would have to drive really fast to make either in 5 hours.

Some of the ideas work for size and vibe, but not with a 50% acceptance rate

Thanks. These all have acceptance rates in the 20-30% range. We’re looking for 50% or more, which would be more in the target/likely range for my kid.

I think this is what Elon has going for it, it’s hard to find similar, and it’s most like schools that are more selective in vibe and student body.

Univ of Dayton is farther but fits most of your other criteria. Great merit too and tuition stays the same all 4 years. Incredible school spirit.

Maybe Denison University in Ohio.

University of North Carolina at Wilmington if by school spirit he means partying on the Outer Banks.

College of Charleston.

I interpret "school spirit" as referring to basketball & football teams.

Agree about Furman.

DD went Elon - which has a phenomenal science program/faculty. Great cadaver lab.

DD is now a surgeon and credits a lot of her success with the foundation she received at Elon.
