Def not Furman.

We toured Elon and loved the school. Nice campus. Many kids from New England and Mid Atlantic states. Lots of international kids too.

Furman seemed very southern. Most kids were from within a 2-3 hour drive. Campus also being isolated from the town was different. Nice campus, but he did not like how it was fenced in…

Thank you all for the great suggestions. The larger ones (JMU, UConn, UMass, Syracuse, etc.) are already on his list. We'll check out the more Elon-sized ones you all mentioned.

CNU has football, 3 + years living on campus, some frats/sororities with about 25% participation, and a sizable marching band program.

- 5,000-10,000 undergrads
- school spirit
- acceptance rate above 50%
- about a 5-hour drive or less from the DMV in any direction (well, not east!).

SMU & TCU in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in Texas, but you would have to drive really fast to make either in 5 hours.

Baylor. Flying is only about 4 hours.

I think Dayton would be great. Except it isn’t a southern school.

Miami of Ohio is a bigger Elon.

University of North Carolina at Wilmington if by school spirit he means partying on the Outer Banks.

The Outer Banks are nowhere near Wilmington. Yankee.
