College and University Discussion

President’s letter is a better link:
https://www.pomona.edu/administration/president/statements/posts/resolution-ocr-complaints Notably: “It’s important that we clearly reject discrimination and harassment motivated by antisemitism, including the targeted harassment of these members of our community because of their Zionism. Many Jewish students experience anti-Zionism as an attack on their Jewish identity, ethnicity, religion and/or ancestry, which means these students experience anti-Zionism as antisemitism.” I guess anti-Zionism = anti-Semitism. Can’t believe a college president said that, but she did…Orwellian. |
People mock POC unmercifully when they say they experience attacks on elements of Black culture as racist but here we have a university saying that they will discipline students because other students experience their criticisms of Zionism as anti-semitic. |
I would not be surprised if 99% of Pomona students disagree with this. Classes are over for the semester and the last day of finals are tomorrow, which is why this was announced when it was. |
| All our institutions, from the federal to state to local level and the universities, are overtaken with pro-Israel and Zionist elements. The U.S.A is basically a slave now to the Israeli state and whatever Israel wants to do. We are supposed to shut up and send Israel our taxpayer money and our students get silenced, doxxed and harassed when they speak up about genocide of the Palestinians and the war crimes the Israeli perpetrate with our U.S. tax dollars. There is an immense amount of propaganda and lies spread about Hamas, about the Palestinians, about even Muslims in general, from the pro-Israeli side and now they are stoking Islamophobia to try to drum up support for Israel since denying a genocide isn’t working. It’s a horrible situation (and always was) but glad people are waking up to it. |
So if a Jewish student claims they are uncomfortable because someone is wearing a cross necklace it is antisemitic? |
| Jewish students don't say that. Don't be an a**hole just spouting random stuff. And it's not analogous anyway to the previous post. |
Why do Jews deserve their own nation but not Aryans? |
Honestly some stiff is not far off. If someone says “Palestinians deserve their own state” a lot of times people claim to hear that as “Israel must be destroyed”. |
| Um, that's because that's what they mean a lot of the time. Not everyone, but that's the origin of "from the river to the sea" so if you take the chanting at face value then you can see why people might hear it that way. I don't really think that's a stretch. |

I have a Jewish friend whose daughter got suspended for participating in pro-Palestinian protests. None of this is about protecting Jewish students. It’s about protecting a nation-state from criticism.
From a recent article in the Guardian evaluating anti-semitism allegations against universities since Oct 7, 2023: “According to the report, only one of 102 antisemitism complaints the authors reviewed raises antisemitism claims unrelated to criticism of Israel.” It went on to say, “The surge in complaints has been in part the work of a small group of pro-Israel actors. Of the investigations analyzed in the report, at least 24% originated with groups or individuals unaffiliated with the university in question. Pro-Israel organizations were behind 78% of the complaints.” There has been a very orchestrated effort by pro-Israeli groups to bring charges and complaints to these universities. None of this is organic. It’s not that individual Jewish students just felt they were treated unfairly and complained, but the pro-Israeli groups made a point to launch these complaints on behalf of pro-Israeli students to get the silencing-criticism-of-Israel response they wanted from the institutions. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/nov/05/university-anitisemitism-investigations |
| It’s a very intentional strategy and colleges are falling for it because of their dependence on the billionaire donor class, like Bill Ackman and his ilk. The same folks like Bill Ackman wallow in Islamophobia constantly. Really disgusting, the whole thing. |
Suspended for participating in protests? Not likely. The vast majority of suspensions have been for violence, trespass, vandalism, property damage, etc. Your friend’s daughter broke the rules. She got punished. |
Nope, she didn’t do any of that. She got suspended for participating in a silent protest after students had been told they were no longer allowed to protest. And a lot of the violence and other allegations have been manufactured by pro-Israeli students. For example, one of the violent “antisemitic” incidents that occurred at Harvard was that, when Palestinians students were lying on the ground holding a die-in, and grad student proctors were there to observe, one of the pro-Israeli students tried to step on one of the protestors. The proctor pushed the pro-Israeli student away to protect the student on the ground and the pro-Israeli student filed charges of a violent anti-Semitic attack. |

| Another thing people don’t realize is that Israeli students come to the U.S. right after serving in the IDF, all high on harassing, detaining and killing Palestinians and they think they can do similar here. They harass and provoke pro-Palestinian groups and publicize anything, including edited video clips and unsubstantiated allegations, that can be used to undermine the pro-Palestinian groups. Dig deeper and you’ll find a lot of rot and things are not as they seem. There has been more violence and intimidation against pro-Palestinians than against the pro-Israeli students. The pro-Palestinian side just doesn’t have the political or financial clout to have their side heard. |
