If you don’t mind me asking, what’s the student’s gender? The one I heard about was a high-stats student—a girl who ranked number one from our local public high school |
| Absolute carnage from Princeton. It’s amazing |
+100 Agree |
AOs want to rub shoulders with the rich and famous and romanticize the poor. Urban professionals are… looked down on. |

Yeah, the only admits on Reddit are test optional kids from small towns. And a ton of rejections from the rest of the US with 1590+.
no dog in this fight but it's striking. |
How does a kid with this of rigor and stats not make it… unreal. Poor kid. |
| Maybe they should just run lottery for mc kids |
Please folks, spread the word next year: unhooked top stats suburban kids are wasting an application applying SCEA. Forget about HYPSM and use your ED1 card; it’s the only one you’ll get. |
I don't know. It really feels like if they just tell everyone the 25% of the unhooked mc kids to be admitted by lottery. It might make everyone feel better |
| correction. 25% of the remaining seats left for mc kids. |
| My kid is paranoid letters were bad,,,, a bunch of club’s captain ,,,,research 1550 plus all 5 rejected only hole is no awards and we don’t know if letters sucked all a IB |
Those are the institutional priorities though. If you’ve done your research you would’ve known it’s always better to apply regular decision. |
| I regret not penn ed |
They are one of the holdouts of test optional. Yale, Harvard, Brown, Dartmouth, Penn all went test required last year. That leaned only 3 Ivies for low scorers to hide behind test optional this year - Columbia, Cornell and Princeton. For that reason - applications probably are higher than usual for the holdouts. It will be easier in the future when they go back to test required. |
