Is that a question? And Princeton calls it SCEA not REA.

Did this happen to your kid? Perhaps if your kid has perfect grades it doesn't matter, but if your kid had anything less than a perfect junior year, they want to see q1 grades?

That's what I thought also, but it seems like people on Reddit and elsewhere say REA.

Define perfect grades?

My DD with a 3.95 UW GPA and 4.45 W GPA with 1530 SAT didn't get any request for Q1 grade report. However DD's friend with a similar profile but from a different school(of the same school district) got a request to submit the report.

DC from a school that sends at least a few to Princeton each year (2-3xs more are accepted) has 2 (A-) and 1570. Did not receive a Q1 grade request.

Multiple kids from their school have been accepted each year to Princeton with below 4.0 unweighted. It is a tough high school academically

Sounds good. Good luck!! Our private counter said Princeton does not like our HS for some reason. It’s rigorous- all other 7 like it.

So my kid did not SCEA. He was WL’d RD and now we wonder if he had SCEA if he would have been in. He was a very strong candidate.
He’s at another Ivy (RD too) and happy. For his demeanor/personality it’s prob a better fit anyways.

Princeton was my dream school

Lots of schools send them automatically so they don’t need to request. Also, in experience from last year, Princeton defers the vast majority of SCEA applicants. The rejections seem few and far between. And deferred applicants DO get accepted in RD. We knew two last year personally and one the year before. So regardless of what happens, don’t lose hope.

Our Q1 request came last week. I am surprised they finalised decisions so fast. Some people say that Q1 grades are the last check before finalising the decision (for some, not all.

Good luck to all our DCs!

DS is at Princeton. They asked for Q1 grades for SCEA. Had 1580 and very strong GPA and rigor junior year. Could mean nothing if they don’t ask for them. But if they do - you are being reviewed more closely. We tried to NOT read too much into it at the time, but thankfully first quarter grades were super strong so only helped in their case.

Received an email saying decision on Thursday, 7pm EST.
