It’s not about USC. It’s about how the numbers are made up. CDS reports how many kids scored 1400+ on the SAT, and 30+ on the ACT, but it doesn’t report how many kids scored 1530+. Someone is making it up. Or, at best, estimating based on the 25th/75th percentile numbers and a bunch of totally unverifiable assumptions about the distribution of scores. And I’m dubious about those assumptions because at highly selective colleges the entering class is not a naturally occurring phenomenon that might be expected to conform to a bell curve. It’s a highly artificial grouping assembled by AOs using sophisticated statistical modeling and aiming to hit certain benchmarks. |

Different years. You're comparing usc class of 2029 to emory 2028. And how does USC have 55% scoring atleast a 1530 when Emory apparently only has 30%, but Emory has higher ranges. |

From the 24-25 USC common data set, the median is 1520 with 75th percentile of 1550. Maybe OP is assuming 1530 is around 55th percentile. Maybe OP forgot to 1 - 55% and should be 45% |

Key thing to realize (most have trouble with this) is that someone with a 1480 is not that much different than someone with a 1530/1550. So you look at the whole package. Just go to work, take a poll of your coworkers at same level, and level above and ask them their SAT scores. Bet you will find it has no correlation to who is the best employee or coworker to work with. |
Not true at all. Plenty of high scorers go to their state flagship/honors college and take great merit and instate prices for an excellent education. Not enough space of 80% to end up at T20 anyhow. |
They should only apply to T20 if those schools interest them and are a good fit. Why apply places you don't actually want to attend? People need to stop chasing prestige and let their kids find the "right" school for them. |
