That doesn't make sense when the median is lower than 1530, and when other schools with higher test ranges, like Emory, Notre Dame, Tufts, etc., are said to have only 30% above 1530. |

The numbers are very real unless the colleges themselves are not telling the truth. USC had a massive jump in their 50% SAT between 2023 and today. In 2023 it was "only" 1490, then 1520. Largely because of non submitters. USC also provided merit aid solely based on the NMSF. Since they draw from California, many of the NMSF are high scorers on the SAT. https://oir.usc.edu/common-data-set-archive/common-data-set-2024-2025/ |
That's still lower than Emory's or Tufts' scores from last year, let alone this year. |
even if it was a 1520... It's not. 55% having a 1530 or more still wouldn't make sense for USC. |
| My 1560 kid attends Davidson. |
only 16.5% have a 1530 or better (.3 x .55) |

My test optional kid attends a T10 and admitted to 4 others listed. |
No, the class of 24-25 CDs reports a 1450-1540, which is the same thing USNews says. US news says the median is a 1490. The USC cds doesn't report the median. The new USC freshman profile says the latest class of 2029 enrolled is a 1470-1540. Which is still lower than Emory class of 2028 enrolled. So either USC is lying of the numbers here are wrong. |
No one cares. USC is not T20. |

Williams College: 35% submitted an SAT score. 190 students. 55% scored above a 1530. 104 students.
Amherst College. 39% submitted an SAT score. 187 students. 55% scored above a 1530. 103 students Those are embarrassing numbers. Why are only 30% of students submitting scores! |
Sure, but median means 50th percentile. If the 50% is a 1520, then more than 50% can't score a 1530. Especially when schools with higher scores than USC have only 30% scoring a 1530. |
