I mean, you could try being a little less smug, as it isn’t a good look. And wouldn’t you be chuffed if someone gave YOU a $3k gift? |
So they f with you more often? I don’t understand. How is that being treated better? |
I wouldn't notice the difference between a $30 purse and a $3,000 purse. I don't care what other people do, if they have the money and want to spend it on a purse, good for them. For me, I would never - we could take a great long weekend trip for that money, enjoy ourselves and smile at the memories forever. But that would be my choice, to each their own |
This. |
Ha! 🔥 Yes YOU |
| I couldn’t care less about a $3k purse but I do spend money on nice jewelry. Different strokes…. |
This is key. Quality on most “designer” items has gone to hell. Sure, it’s better than a fake leather bag from Target. But a $3k bag usually isn’t 10x better quality than a $300 bag. And the price increases have gotten out of control. |

We all have our vices. I like bags and jewelry. You may be into cars and watches. I personally don’t prefer logos and monogrammed pieces, but I can appreciate how others love the look. No need to judge and no need to care. As long as everyone is happy spending the $$ on whatever floats his/her boat. I only take issue when ppl spend the $$ then complain about how expensive something is or they put it away in a closet to collect dust. There are far more better options to invest in than fashion. It is only worth it when you wear it because it is supposed to bring you (not others) joy.
I am glad no one recognizes my bags when I am out and about in this area. I don’t want or need them to. Those are my bags for me to carry not for them to gawk and judge. |
I am one and $200 is my limit. $500 for a coat. I *would* spend up to $1000 for comfortable heels but haven’t found them yet. |
| My net worth is over 10mil and I prefer to carry le pliages and boat totes. |
Not the OP, but I would re-gift or give the purse away. I once won a Gucci bag in a raffle and gave it to my SIL. It was totally non-functional to me (no pockets). Luxury handbags are just not my thang. My SIL loves them, so I made her happy. |
$500 for a coat limits you in terms of materials, size, and color, unfortunately. I bought a coat recently that was all wool, no filler, in a good cut and color and in my size and spent more, and I wasn’t trying to be fancy. It’s shocking how many coats are sold for $100+ that are meant to be wool and are mostly acrylic, polyester, with polyester linings if they are lined and so forth. The bag game is different, it’s quite possible to get the equivalent quality or better at a far lower price point than ‘designer’ four-figure bags. |
This. I don’t care about status symbols but I do care about status and making it in the world. So I am trying to learn about the basic presentation of looking at least somewhat UMC and playing the role so it leads to professional opportunities. But I don’t care what bag others carry. |
|
I pay ~$500 per bag and buy about one per year. Leather, without logos.
If I see a designer bag, I'll notice it -- but if the person doesn't seem to be wealthy, I will tend to assume the bag is a fake or that the person is paying way too much money to try to look like they are someone else. I would say that my bag choices reflect my lifestyle. Practical and quality-oriented. My family pours money into education, and we are not rich. |
It is human nature to judge m, but you really don’t have any business of assuming. |
