Ok to celebrate coming out day ?

I'm calling it right now. The "OP" is a bot. Same as the thread for "
Best private for 6th grade daughter in 2 mom family". Next thing that happens is DCUM is featured on Fox or some conservative podcast to fuel their continued manufactured crisis about the LGBTQ+ communities. This is all bot created fear mongering.

We should celebrate also the international asexuality day and the nonbinary parents day. Both in April.

We are going to need more religious schools.
- said only partly tongue-in-cheek. Celebrate who you are in your own personal sphere.

Troll.

If op isn't a troll, they weren't smart enough to evaluate their kids school before sending them there and paying $$$.

And they are too chicken to question this with the school directly. Or even name the school here. So it can’t be so important.

Maybe. But the question is focused on whether it makes sense to celebrate that day rather than any complains about the school. Many independent schools celebrate that day.

Not complaining about the school. Most independent schools celebrate that day. It is more about if it’s make to celebrate it. Specially if there is already another day for LBGTQ+.

We should also celebrate the Lesbian visibility day on April 26.

You mean is it ok to celebrate it? Yes, it’s ok. What do you think?

For me it’s ok as well. How about for a 6 year old kid? Are you going to ask them?

Absolutely. You should continue to pretend that everyone is exactly the same. That way they can grow up to be yet another self-hating, closeted member of the GOP.

Yes, we should also celebrate in school the international drag day on July 16.

Plus, kids have parents who are same-sex couples. So this lets the kids know it's okay to be open about that at school. AND, teaches kids from homophobic families that it's no big deal and in fact some of their little friends have parents who are same-sex couples.

How would kids know that at such an early age, way before puberty and any interest in romantic relationships? In my circle, I can think of a 6 year old wants to grow up to be a cat. Another wants to marry his best friend so they can play on the same soccer team.

My cousin is gay and we all knew it from when he was in Kindergarten. When he talked to his mom about it in elementary school she got mad at him and he then suppressed his feelings and finally came out the year he went to college. Unfortunately, his mother still doesn’t fully accept the fact that he is gay and he has struggled mentally bc of it.
