MoCo OIG Blasts Taylor and MCPS for lies over backlog and non-compliance with background and CPS checks

Megan is a professional and she called it as she saw it and she didn't allow Taylor to get away with his snaky lies like he always does.

The BOE is equally to blame. This has been a well known issue for years.

BOE under Weast? Starr? Smith? McKnight? Or all of them?

The present BOE is supposed to be supervising and evaluating Taylor's performance as superintendent. You know, the guy who notified by the OIG in December 2024 that he needed to get background check compliance in order and waited until three weeks before the report was released to try and clean up his act?

Why are Supers' contracts multi year? Max six months at a time. They need to prove they can handle it, baby steps. 6month contract extended based on performance.

Well, Taylor and the BOE said he needed a year just to get acquainted with the school system, so I don't think 6-month contracts would fly.

Ok, so 1 year at first, then 6 months at a time.

The MD Education Code specifies that superintendents serve four-year terms.

Background checks cost money. It may have been they wanted to and they were denied the funding.

Per MD state law, school districts are at county level (plus Baltimore City), can't go any smaller than that.

Way to go MCPS! And, on top of that all employees received a notice that the Hub failed and some were not paid at all or only partially. They apologized but I bet central office was paid correctly.

Then create a new county. The school district is the largest in MD and it is clearly too big.
