Was that your beach reading?

Stop being mean! We all got multiple texts and e-mails. Chris Cram ought to be ashamed of his team. Why do I get nonsensical reminders so many times yet the important things sent through Synergy get lost?!?

Who's being mean?
Everyone who received the message wonders same thing.

408 teacher openings? Is that an average number in mcps two weeks before school?

Meh. There are always hundreds of job listings for teachers leading up to the first day of school and you also have to take into account that the county has well over two hundred schools.

I suspect there will be many slots available as maybe retirements have ticked up, fewer college graduates are interested in teaching, and things look like they may only get worse. Throw into this a real lack of coverage, with fewer substitutes than ever before . . .

A lot of substitutes are waiting to see how things are working out or waiting to see if MCPS has the budget for permanent substitute positions. So you'll see the total number of listings decline dramatically afterwards. Or at least that's the hope.

Who will be conducting their background checks?

Taylor and Jones themselves. They will utilize the kids they used for those videos they had time to make to run the background checks

Does the BOE ever say anything?

Wow, just wow! In the past 15 years when my kids are enrolled with MCPS, I constantly thought “this is the worst thing ever happened in MCPS”, and then MCPS was able to surprise me with something worse, again and again!

Nope!! Gutless, spineless bunch they are.

East of 270; criminals teaching criminals.

Isn't it common knowledge that they only background check upon hire? The county is the same way.

Who is approving this Purchase Order?

I believe that substitutes always get background checks and fingerprinted upon their hire. I’m not too worried about them, apart from perhaps MCPS should be following it up five years later with another check . . . but substitutes can pick and choose their job listings, so it’s not unusual for them to wait. After all, the permanent sub job positions are still not yet posted, and long-term sub jobs are being posted daily.
