What they missed is that they are going to start imposing a new $250 "visa integrity fee" (yes it's "reimbursable" but the process for obtaining a refund sounds dubious so good luck with that). Additionally, over the weekend they further tightened the requirements for interview waiver. A significant amount of people no longer qualify and will now need to have an interview. In some locations, the wait time for an interview is already over a year. Between the new fee which pushes the cost of a single visa to over $400 and interview wait times being pushed out a 2 or 3 years.... people just won't come here anymore (which is likely the point). They will go vacation in Europe. https://www.cnbc.com/2025/07/18/visa-integrity-fee-what-to-know-about-new-travel-fee-to-enter-the-us-.html https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/interview-waiver-update-july-25-2025.html |
Funny that the Hillbilly elegy guy is taking his kid on so many “elite” vacations. |

I can see why trump goes to Scotland, he has a club there and likes to irritate the Scottish.
But Vance?? I can only assume his wife is a fan of British tv and wants to immerse herself in it. But her own husband just cancelled pbs, our only way of viewing that beloved tv. Much of British tv is inclusive, welcoming to those who are different, the exact opposite of what USA is under trump/vance. This is truly bizarre. |
He’s never going back to slumming with red state losers. |
Usha has a master's degree from the UK. She already got booed at Disneyland and in Vermont, so maybe she thinks she'll be more popular in the UK (doubtful). For some reason she doesn't seem to be picking red state destinations for vacations... |
Man, she is such a sellout. Unbelievable. I can’t believe she is with douche bag. I hope the Brits heckle her endlessly. Sorry for the kids, but they need to learn to handle this for the rest of their life. I’m not sure if there is anywhere on earth that won’t boo her unless she divorces him. But leave the cotswolds and rest of uk alone, it’s a nice place! |
Where she was born is not enough, according to Vance. If she didn't have a US permanent resident parent when she was born, then she should not be a born citizen, according to Vance. |

I can't believe they closed off part of Disneyland so that the Vances could have it to themselves.
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/jul/26/cotswolds-jd-vance-summer-holiday This is a place of ancient doorways and expensive condiments, where the pavements are dotted with teashops and vintage cars drift past with their roofs down and a plaque on the war memorial records the last time a battle was fought here, in 1646. But could this almost parodistically charming town, or another very like it, soon find itself at the heart of the angry US culture wars? According to reports, the US vice-president, JD Vance, will be holidaying in the Cotswolds with his family next month, and protesters are determined to let him know just how warm the welcome will not be in England’s chocolate box countryside. “JD Vance is every bit as unwelcome in the UK as Donald Trump,” said the Stop Trump Coalition, which mobilises British opposition to the US president. “We are sure that, even in the Cotswolds, he will find the resistance waiting.” If so, it will not be a new experience for the veep. Vance’s wife, Usha, and their three young children had to abandon a ski holiday in Vermont in March after they were met with crowds of protesters with signs reading “Go ski in Russia”. The Vances were also jeered at Disneyland in California after part of the park was closed off for their sole use. |

VP Vance’s global travels are a mix of diplomacy, dealmaking, soft power and family time
https://www.abc4.com/news/politics/ap-politics/ap-vp-vances-global-travels-are-a-mix-of-diplomacy-dealmaking-soft-power-and-family-time/ Vance’s trips have included a five-day trip to Europe in February, a hastily reorganized trek to Greenland in March and a tour of Italy and India in April that was notable for the vice president’s brief meeting with Pope Francis the day before the pontiff died. Family time follows Vance’s diplomatic work Vance has been accompanied on his overseas trips by his wife, Usha, and their 7- and 5-year-old sons and 3-year-old daughter. The kids are usually in pajamas as they board Air Force Two for the overnight . The Vances have gazed aloft at the newly restored Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris and the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City and been photographed, with the children in traditional Indian dress, in front of the Taj Mahal in Agra. Without their children, the Vances also visited Dachau in Germany. Joel Goldstein, a law professor at Saint Louis University who specializes in the U.S. vice presidency, said the journeys also could be intended to build Vance’s foreign policy chops. “Part of foreign travel for a vice president is establishing a national security and diplomatic credential,” he said, noting that it’s particularly important for Vance. At age 40, Vance served just two years in the Senate before ascending to the office. Some of the Vances’ activities have been unwelcome Usha Vance was originally slated for a solo trip to Greenland with one of their sons to attend a dogsled race. But that plan was scrapped amid growing discontent from the governments of Greenland and Denmark over the visit and Trump’s tough talk of the U.S. taking the territory away from a NATO ally. Instead, the vice president joined the trip, and their visit was limited to a U.S. military base there. On his Italy trip, Vance took heat on X for being photographed inside the Sistine Chapel. Photography there is usually forbidden, but the session turned out to have been sanctioned by the Vatican, as has happened on past visits by U.S. dignitaries. A decision during the same trip to close the Roman Colosseum to the public so Usha Vance and the children could take a tour drew some grumbling from tourists stranded outside. A consumer group has since filed a legal complaint. In India, the Taj Mahal, normally swarming with tourists, was also closed to visitors to accommodate the Vances, according to local media reports. The Vances appear to have tried on occasion to avoid such disruptions. In France, the family visited the Louvre on a Tuesday, a day when the museum is closed to the public. |

That's a whole lot of taxpayer funded travel for the family (and a lot of vacation for JD in general).
January 20, 2025-Vance takes office February 2025-Europe (France, Germany) End February 2025-Vermont ski holiday March 2025-Usha attempts to take son to Greenland for dog-sledding race, not clear if son attended in the end- JD ended up coming along and visiting a military base April 2025-Italy on Easter weekend, JD sees Pope the day before he dies for “official meeting.” April 2025- India (including major Indian tourist sites-Taj Mahal, Jaipur). July 2025-San Diego/Disneyland, CA July 2025-Cotswolds, UK |
wtf? |
Seriously, why does he keep going to places that dislike him? Why don't they go to a deep red tourist spot? |
Grifters gonna grift. |
Bless your heart! You poor, put-upon Democrat. It’s almost as if no presidents or VPs have ever vacationed with their families.

So you’ve never heard of BritBox, apparently… why am I not surprised. |
