And certainly, taking his family along on business trips was something that was cheered by the left. I don't care either way - if I was VP or POTUS, I'd bring my kids along too. But the utter hypocrisy is just so comical when a Republican president/VP does exactly the same thing.

The point is that the money should be going back into the American economy. If you want to use Obama or even W as an example (and every other White House), they vacationed in the U.S.

Also. I don’t believe that Obama spoke disparagingly about Europe. Obama did not run on an “America First” platform.

Right from the start, Sasha and Malia were included in their father's travels. In 2009, the first family visited Ghana to see a slave outpost and visit Michelle's ancestral roots. This was at the tail end of President Obama's first international trip as commander in chief, which included a tour of the Kremlin to meet Dmitry Medvedev, a meeting with Pope Benedict XVI in the Vatican and a visit with President Nicolas Sarkozy of France during a stop in Paris.

Over the years, the daughters accompanied their father to Argentina, Brazil and Cuba. They also went on additional trips with Michelle Obama, like in summer 2015 when they went to London and Venice to promote the first lady's Let Girls Learn Initiative.

He took his family to Germany tacking a trip on to a speech where he praised neo Nazis.

He/Usha tried to take his kid to do dogsledding in Greenland, then had to pretend to tack something US military related onto his trip, when protests hit that too due to Trump's threatening to have the US takeover Greeland.

Nobody wants him, but we pay for JD/Usha to go everywhere.

We are in a period of extreme budget cuts necessitating firing many government employees and shrinking Medicaid to the extent that millions will lose their health insurance. Not taking your entire family along on multiple trips abroad in a 6 month period seems like a no brainer in such a situation.

+1. It’s also bad optics. Obama had his family tag on to actual work trips overseas but his vacations were mostly domestic-Hawaii where he grew up and Martha’s Vineyard. They did a Spain vacation towards the end of his two terms and I remember criticism of it.

The number of foreign trips JD brought his 3 kids on in just 6 months is just incredible…
