Eggs vs oatmeal for breakfast

Anonymous
My GW dietitian said only six eggs a week because of cholesterol risk.

Eggs made my ldl rise crazily. I’m healthy weight and avid exerciser too. I had to do sole egg whites. High cholesterol runs in the family. The keto thing was bad for me in that manner. I stopped the whole milk, butter stuff that is pushed. Meanwhile my husband does it and heavy cream and doesn’t have the same issue. I also need the fiber in oatmeal to stay regular.

I’d personally alternate at a minimum

That has been debunked like a million times. It’s just not true.

+1 I don't know why people would come on here and so confidentially say things that aren't true. Like, if you aren't positive, don't post. My cardiologist agrees with this poster that there is no proof that dietary cholesterol is bad for our hearts. He also prescribes and I take a statin. Zero side effects after 20 years. Cholesterol is crazy low (but I have terrible family history) and he tells me to enjoy as many eggs as I would like for breakfast. I just so happen to have two every morning. I also have yogurt and half an avocado.

Ha. Come on- he’s a quack. You are on a station for crying out loud. That’s the only thing keeping it in check with the eggs.

Depending on the person- eggs do pose a risk. I’m one of them. I can keep cholesterol down when I cut out whole eggs and saturated fats and take psyllium husk. The last time I started daily eggs my ldl went through the roof (low triglycerides and high HDL)- but the ldl level was high.

I’m having this issue too. I was eating eggs daily and now I’m going to reduce to 1 and egg whites and cut out some other things.

I’d alternate the two breakfasts.

Another vote for alternating. Eggs keep me full for longer. But oatmeal is very comforting, and that fiber is really important.

I have oatmeal for breakfast and boiled eggs for mid morning snack.
