Which would you pick for a daily breakfast (cholesterol is not an issue)?:
2 scrambled eggs topped with shredded cheese, served with one slice of buttered whole wheat toast Or 3/4 cup of rolled oats, microwaved with water, adding in 1/4 cup of 2% milk. Toppings are walnuts, cinnamon, and either raisins or frozen blueberries. No other sugar added. |
I would pick the eggs because that sounds more delicious. I would add some salsa and some spinach to the eggs, also on account of deliciousness. |
If I’m in a hurry, I’ll make overnight oats to eat in the morning.
If I have time, I’ll make an egg and cheese tortilla. |
Another one for the eggs here. And the idea of salsa and spinach makes them even better. I'd skip the toast just because I don't like toast.
Sadly for me, I really dislike oatmeal. I can do plain greek yogurt with fruit and some granola on top, tho. |
I love both, but I’d pick eggs!
I sometimes stir egg whites into my oatmeal right when the oats are done cooking. The heat cooks the whites, adds protein, and doesn’t change the taste. |
Eggs, but I’d skip the cheese and buttered toast. |
I’d do eggs but no cheese. |
OP here. Sorry, I should have been clearer- which of these breakfasts would be better for weight loss? I alternate between them (eggs when I have time, oatmeal when I don’t). But if oatmeal would help me lose these last 5-10lbs, I’d switch to that every day. And if eggs are the better choice, I’ll try to wake earlier. |
I think variety is good from a nutritional perspective so I would keep alternating. |
I eat both |
I’d take the eggs, add a bunch of veggies, a couple more eggs, and skip the toast. |
Eggs keep me full way longer than oatmeal. |
If you eat the eggs every day, eventually cholesterol WILL become a problem. |
I would try each one and see which one leaves you feeling more satisfied after. Or just mix it up day to day so you don’t burn out on one type of meal
I love eggs but often eat them for dinner (and my cholesterol is fine, just had my physical). I eat oatmeal for breakfast because I like it, and I add a scoop of protein powder, chia seeds and a lot of berries to help get to my protein and fiber goals for the day. I have lost some weight this year because my clothes are looser, but I don’t weigh myself so not sure how much. |
I did notice this in my last blood test. I am trying to eat more protein, which means more eggs than I have ever eaten. |
