Who is in the wrong here?

There are situations where we need to put the rules aside and support our customers when they need it. You being pregnant and in pain is 100 percent one of those scenarios. Shame on him. He also needs to discover a little bit of human empathy.

Ita, but just look at this weird thread. Empathy is lacking.

She's entitled to simply because it's a legal spot and she's a customer.

That’s good to know! I’m entitled to that spot and also the pregnant, veterans, time limited, and spots reserved for elderly!

Yeah. If those people had a disability they could get a handicapped permit.

So you shouldn't have parked there, but I would also never go back (not that you can) and never give them another penny of my business.

So it’s easier, safer and faster for the workers and they don’t need to go further and in traffic while bringing groceries to the car.

Given that the spot was empty, it doesn't look like speed was a concern. As for safety, it would be safer to not send workers into the parking lot.

The question was about the spots’ location, not this specific scenario. The entire point is to bring the bags to the customer’s car…

Many people have conditions where they “just need to run in and out” in 2 minutes. I’m sorry that you had a huge number of things fall on you at one time, but the specified parking is there for a purpose, and there’s other parking available for your purpose.

While the guy was a jerk, everyone would park in those spots and there would be none available for the pickups if they didn’t try to keep them for their intended purpose. Things part of social convention and in general, people adhere to them. They can’t enforce it with the law, but it’s private property so they can ask you to move.

This is someone S/O the thread about parking in pickup spots, providing a sympathetic, feasible scenario.
The weakness is that a store manager would never police these spots. It's only other store customers trying to park in a first-come/first served manner, which makes sense.

Yet people are still offering advice as though it's real.

Exactly! Get a handicaped sign or park in the regular spot. Also, veterans???? So some 30-year-old able-bodied guy who lifts 200 lbs in the gym somehow deserves a special spot at the grocery store? INSANE!!!

I'm not sure why you think your unwillingness to function in the society entitles you to a special parking spot. It doesn't. OP found one that was close to the entrance and that's perfectly fine. You can sit in your car in the other spots and wait for someone to put the bags in your car just as easily as you would have in the spot she took.

If I can wheel the cart through traffic to put my own groceries in my car, so can they. They are no less safe than I am.

You can't park in a handicap spot without a placard. You will be ticketed.

You can't park in a spot that is labeled as For Harris Teeter Customers Only. You can be towed or ticketed.

You can't park in a spot that is labeled 15 Min Parking for HT Customers Only. You can be towed or ticketed.

You CAN park in a spot labeled Reserved for Pregnant/Expecting Mothers. Neither the store nor police can enforce this parking sign.

You CAN park in a spot labeled Reserved for Vets. Neither the store nor police can enforce this parking sign.

You CAN park in a spot labeled Pick-up Orders Only. Neither the store nor police can enforce this parking sign.

Also, to ban you from the store the manager must go through the official trespass procedure, which means having you served a trespass notice by a law enforcement officer.

I’m old enough to remember when bag boys would accompany the customer to their car, wherever it was located, to help them load their groceries.

There were no close spots and I urgently need the medication and I’m in pain so I parked in the grocery pickup spot of which there were 4 and none of them were occupied. As I started walking into then store a manager stops me and tell me I need to move my car. I explain I’m sick and picking up drugs and will be in and out in 5 minutes. He block me from proceeding and tell me I have to move my car and it’s against store policy to do what I’m doing. I reply that there are 3 empty spots and I’m sick and just picking up meds. He tells me I can pick up my medication but I’m not welcome back. Who is in the wrong here?

He’s an A hole. (Coming from a guy.)
