What exactly is the democratic party going to stand for in 2026 and 2028?

Anonymous
In the mid-terms don't make it about Trump. Make it about the local candidates and what they have supported.
Anonymous
By the end of 2025 Trump's corruption and ineptitude of his cabinet will be so overwhelming obvious even to the dumbest MAGA they will be begging the Dems to take over.

How about the republic and democracy worldwide?

Are you going to support democracy by not holding a primary and trying get your political opponent jailed? Or will you do it differently this time?

What are people supposed to do if a politician commits crimes?

Neither party followed any conventions at all. Presidential debate in June, BEFORE either party's national convention, where nominees are supposed to be selected? And why was the Debate Commission not even involved in any of it? Both parties did some strange things that circumvented process.

Meanwhile, Trump actually committed crimes, and was actually convicted of felonies, and found liable for sexual assault. Are we supposed to somehow ignore that?

You can ignore it just like you ignore the big guy's 10%. And the threat to withhold aid to Ukraine to protect his son, the Chinese kickbacks, Hunter's "art" sales, etc.
Oh, that's right, anything negative magically disappears when you scream "Russian disinformation."
It's only fitting that after 52 years of grifting, Biden's last official act was to effectively admit guilt by pardoning his family for crimes dating back over a decade.

Trump refused to abide by an independent commission as had been traditional. He broke this norm, just like all of the other norms.

Despite 6 years of intense investigation, the GOP came up with absolutely nothing related to any crimes committed by Joe Biden. The whole "Biden Inc" was a fabrication. Look who is actually witholding aid to Ukraine - the GOP and Trump.
Look who is actually getting Chinese kickbacks - Ivanka and her trademarks, Trump via Cryptocurrency etc. to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars.
Yes, Hunter's art sales were bad. Was Hunter the president or a white house employee? No? Then not illegal.
Re: Russian disinformation: Look at the Senate Intel report WRITTEN BY MARCO RUBIO that outlines Russian influence in the 2016 election and continues to this day.

You have fallen prey to the worst of the projection of the right and Trump. Hopefully some day, the fog will be lifted from your eyes.

It’s best for them to go back to the 2008 Obama platform. Very minimal talk about immigration or gays or abortion. More inspiring talk about the economy and being anti war.

Biden starting the Ukraine war didn’t help matters.

The same things it always stands for:

Stable and growing economy
Job creation
Investments in our people and country through education, infrastructure and repatriating manufacturing from abroad
Rule of law for all.
Civil rights for all
A functioning government that works for all people.
FEMA
USAID and other soft power levers

Etc.

You forgot boys in girls sports.

And repatriating violent wife beater Maryland Man.

It was a civil protective order, not a criminal one, and was based on caution after her previous experience with a violent partner. She dropped the court case after they went to counseling. But don’t let facts get in the way of your bloodthirsty narrative.

Funny how MAGA never takes up the pitchforks for white men accused of DV. Let’s jail them all too, even the ones who are only suspected of it, and make sure that whenever their names are mentioned, “violent wife beater” or “thug” are always appended to it.

One of the things that hurt Hillary and all other candidates in 2008 is she was not anti war. She voted for the war.

On both the Republican and Democrat sides, war hawks or Iraq war supporters are not politically viable which says something about the country’s appetite not favoring war. Trump understands that too

We need a Watergate style political wipe out of the GOP for this to happen. If we end up with another close race and a Senate below 60 and a house within 5-10 votes of a majority, then we are stuck with more of the same. If we really want to re-establish ethics and codify the parts of the republic that made the US actually great, then we need reform legislation and the means to rebuild what has been destroyed.

I’d be happy if we could simply hold any of them accountable, starting with DOGE. A few of those data thieves in cuffs would be great, and I am sure that they have violated some state laws. I want to hear about how we are going to go after these people, not just promises and platitudes. I don’t want them pardoned.

Border: sensible enforcement without cruel and unusual punishment, splitting families, or targeting political speech.

Tariffs: repeal and return to the negotiated rates from the Biden administration

Taxes: return to the rates we had under Clinton, when the budget was actually balanced. Sensible entitlement reductions (eg shifting full retirement age to 70). Adult budget process so Treasury auctions remain successful.

Social justice: this is a buzzword that doesn’t translate to national policy.

DEI: focus on equality of opportunity for all Americans rather than selectively persecuting minorities by firing them from Federal service. Restore the DOJ enforcement of civil rights

Russia/Ukraine: work with Europe to continue containing Russian aggression.

Energy: get out of the way of market-based decarbonization of energy supplies, by not artificially propping up coal and petroleum.

EVs: better infrastructure for charging and upgrades to the electrical grid so we can keep up with China and other 21st century economies, and not be stuck as a relic of the 20th century as desired by Republicans.

All of this - and in plain, simple language. And don't be afraid to say that Republicans and Trump have lied to get votes. You don't have to get down in the weeds - keep it bread and butter.

This is an important point. Don’t treat the average voter as an educated policy wonk. The average American reads at a middle school level.

The average Republican doesn’t read. Trump “loves the uneducated “.

This is not going to happen. Spent the weekend with my maga dad and his ability to twist reality is beyond comprehension- magas brainwashed and there is literally nothing the gop can do that will serve as a “reality check” for these people… including my dad which is so so heartbreaking for me. He’s lost.

Seems like if a campaign with no policy substance were going to work, it would have worked for Kamala.

Rule of law.
Rebuilding FEMA so disaster victims can be appropriately helped.
Healthcare for all.
Free school lunches again.
Protecting social security.

All they have to do is promise to fix a small portion of the wreckage Trump caused to win the next elections. And then do it.

Reality check.

Must have been heartbreaking for you to see Biden on stage getting trounced by Trump. He went down in flames in the first five minutes and his serious dementia became wholly apparent. What a revelation, huh? *

But until that time, the fantasy of how "normal" Biden was had a firm hold on you.

Maybe it's you that is actually brainwashed? Back to your world of MSNBC, Huff Post, NPR and the NY Times....already in progress.

* and yet you democrats did NOTHING to replace him and kept the man with the nuclear football in office for six more months. Simply unforgivable, you power hungry dirtbags.

I despise Trump but it’s pretty clear post-Biden that the Democrats have lost any moral standing they may have had to claim MAGA is a brainwashed cult.

If the dems were a brainwashed cult, you wouldn't see the pushback and attention being given to the issue of Biden's mental acuity. And last time I checked, there was not an armed band of seditionists storming the Capitol to stop the electoral vote counting on behalf of Trump and the 2024 election.

Biden wasn't fit to be POTUS and in hindsight, we should have known better than to nominate someone who would be 78 years old at the start of a first term. His presidency wasn't a complete disaster by any means. The one thing Biden did that had the most negative impact for the country and for his legacy was creating an easy path for Trump to win a second term.

Biden is long gone and out of the political picture at this point. Dems have a clean slate to work with and plenty of time for new faces to become the leading voices of the party leading up to 2028. The GOP is now the party stuck with an unfit leader through 2029 who will make election success very difficult for GOP candidates in 2026 and 2028 as he becomes more unfit and more unpopular as his second term evolves. We saw how Trump's 1st term evolved and ended in disaster. Elderly dogs don't learn new tricks. He fooled you once, shame on him. He duped you once again in 2024, shame on you.

Big time political advantage for the Dems through at least 2028 thanks to the GOP's inability to understand how replacing an elderly unfit Dem with their own elderly unfit jerk was going to send them down the same road to inevitable failure as the Dem's experienced with Biden.

If you can honestly equate Democrats and MAGA, you’re worse off mentally than either of the last two Presidents.
