What exactly is the democratic party going to stand for in 2026 and 2028?

This is not going to happen. Spent the weekend with my maga dad and his ability to twist reality is beyond comprehension- magas brainwashed and there is literally nothing the gop can do that will serve as a “reality check” for these people… including my dad which is so so heartbreaking for me. He’s lost.

Reality check.

Must have been heartbreaking for you to see Biden on stage getting trounced by Trump. He went down in flames in the first five minutes and his serious dementia became wholly apparent. What a revelation, huh? *

But until that time, the fantasy of how "normal" Biden was had a firm hold on you.

Maybe it's you that is actually brainwashed? Back to your world of MSNBC, Huff Post, NPR and the NY Times....already in progress.

* and yet you democrats did NOTHING to replace him and kept the man with the nuclear football in office for six more months. Simply unforgivable, you power hungry dirtbags.

I despise Trump but it’s pretty clear post-Biden that the Democrats have lost any moral standing they may have had to claim MAGA is a brainwashed cult.

If the dems were a brainwashed cult, you wouldn't see the pushback and attention being given to the issue of Biden's mental acuity. And last time I checked, there was not an armed band of seditionists storming the Capitol to stop the electoral vote counting on behalf of Trump and the 2024 election.

That pushback and attention is only happening now because the cult can no longer control the truth. If pushback and attention had happened while Biden was showing signs of decline in 2021-2022, then I would buy your argument. But until the debate made the truth impossible to hide, the party message was that of a cult: He is fine. He is mentally competent. The man in charge of the nuclear football is sharp as a tack. In hindsight it of course looks like the chants of cult members.

No, the Democrats have lost any moral high ground the previously could have claimed, and only those who are still cultists deny it.

If you can honestly equate Democrats and MAGA, you’re worse off mentally than either of the last two Presidents.

PP here. I knew months before the election that Trump was going to easily win, specifically because I am a Democrat not in the thrall of the blue cult.

It is indeed true that outside of the blue cult bubble, most voters don’t equate Democrats and MAGA: because they think Democrats are worse. By equating them in their cultishness, I am more charitable to the Democrats than most voters across the US are.

The same things it always stands for:

Stable and growing economy

Investments in our people and country through education, infrastructure and repatriating manufacturing from abroad
Rule of law for all.
Civil rights for all
A functioning government that works for all people.

You forgot boys in girls sports.

And repatriating violent wife beater Maryland Man.

Oh you saw him doing that?

Border: sensible enforcement without cruel and unusual punishment, splitting families, or targeting political speech.

Tariffs: repeal and return to the negotiated rates from the Biden administration

Taxes: return to the rates we had under Clinton, when the budget was actually balanced. Sensible entitlement reductions (eg shifting full retirement age to 70). Adult budget process so Treasury auctions remain successful.

Social justice: this is a buzzword that doesn’t translate to national policy.

DEI: focus on equality of opportunity for all Americans rather than selectively persecuting minorities by firing them from Federal service. Restore the DOJ enforcement of civil rights

Russia/Ukraine: work with Europe to continue containing Russian aggression.

Energy: get out of the way of market-based decarbonization of energy supplies, by not artificially propping up coal and petroleum.

EVs: better infrastructure for charging and upgrades to the electrical grid so we can keep up with China and other 21st century economies, and not be stuck as a relic of the 20th century as desired by Republicans.

All of this - and in plain, simple language. And don't be afraid to say that Republicans and Trump have lied to get votes. You don't have to get down in the weeds - keep it bread and butter.

This is an important point. Don’t treat the average voter as an educated policy wonk. The average American reads at a middle school level.

The average Republican doesn’t read. Trump “loves the uneducated “.

And democrats hate the uneducated. Guess which one is more inclusive and gets more votes.

Any GOP candidate with a pulse would won the 2024 election considering the historically unprecedented weak position the Dems were left in after their incumbent dropped out of the race 3 months before Election Day. The GOP could have possibly capitalized politically on the fallout from the Biden debacle for more than one election cycle but instead the GOP chose to nominate and elect someone as elderly as Biden who has already shown the world an inability to lead our powerful country in an acceptable manner for a full four year term.

The momentum and political advantages the GOP had in 2024 is now stalled and inevitably swinging back to the direction of the Dems as Trump slowly but surely loses the support of the small margins of swing voters who determine elections. By 2026 and especially 2028, those swing voters will be attracted to the party that represents change from status quo just like they did in 2020 and 2024 because people simply grow tired of unfit and unlikable leadership very quickly.

If this "moral high ground" you mention is at the forefront of swing voters minds in 2026 and 2028, they will choose not to vote or they'll vote 3rd party. Most swing voters know moral high ground is nowhere to be found in modern day American politics. They primarily seek the change that only the opposition party is able to represent.

Which is why Democrats need to dumb down the messaging. Not everyone is a policy wonk. Trump and his handlers understand this. Bannon understands this. Hitler understood this.

Yea, well these same voters elected a 77 year old unlikable Dem over Trump and his chaos in 2020 and the majority of these voters will choose to support the Dem nominee in 2028 for the same reasons. These feelings you describe in people outside if the blue bubble only matter in the true swing voters. The margins that make up the difference between reasonably popular presidents and historically unpopular presidents like Trump and Biden are made up of these swing voters who are quick to give the boot to unacceptable presidents.

If you were paying attention in 2020 and 2024, you would understand this political dynamic.

Now we're talking. Keep up the dialogue. Democrats and Republicans need to work together to forge a moderate path forward for America.

Where are you getting this is moderate or that any GOP would like this? I’m quite liberal and would welcome this as would most people I know.

Yes, don't get down into the weeds, because that's where democrats lose every time.

Just tell people half the story. The half you progressives want them to hear.

Are you donkeys really taking notice of the problem?
I keep hearing here how 2026 is game-set-match for the democrats. Are you only paying attention to what you want?

Trump is a cult of personality. Once he’s gone then what? Do you think your uneducated rural voters are going to wave flags for Marco Rubio? Vance? Nope. The game’s up.

Yes most are morons. Only MAGA had the brains to notice Biden had dementia in 2020 and COVID didn't come from a bat. It's amazing how stupid non MAGA folks are.

Vance is a huge threat. His rags to riches story, Ivy League grad, military experience, and millennial relatability make him viable in a way that even Trump is not. I believe he’s the one who told Trump to go on Rogan’s show and get on podcasts. He’s no Mike Pence. He’s also a former Democrat and Obama voter turned Republican so he understand how to debate Democrat ideas
