What exactly is the democratic party going to stand for in 2026 and 2028?

The Border?
Tariffs?
Taxes and Spending?
Social Justice?
DEI?
Russia / Ukraine?
Energy?
EV policy?

I predict the left will take the 10 on every 90-10 issue imaginable. They will hold on to those unpopular issues like a demonic chihuahua refuses to let go of a chew toy. It’s what they do.

How about the republic and democracy worldwide?

Are you going to support democracy by not holding a primary and trying get your political opponent jailed? Or will you do it differently this time?

What are people supposed to do if a politician commits crimes?

Neither party followed any conventions at all. Presidential debate in June, BEFORE either party's national convention, where nominees are supposed to be selected? And why was the Debate Commission not even involved in any of it? Both parties did some strange things that circumvented process.

Meanwhile, Trump actually committed crimes, and was actually convicted of felonies, and found liable for sexual assault. Are we supposed to somehow ignore that?
You can ignore it just like you ignore the big guy's 10%. And the threat to withhold aid to Ukraine to protect his son, the Chinese kickbacks, Hunter's "art" sales, etc.
Oh, that's right, anything negative magically disappears when you scream "Russian disinformation."
It's only fitting that after 52 years of grifting, Biden's last official act was to effectively admit guilt by pardoning his family for crimes dating back over a decade.

They never did before, why would they start now?

It was the republicans that completely obsessed over those things and clearly still are. Then they made up a bunch of positions that they imagined the democrats held and sold them to the ignorant MAGAs. Kitty litter in bathrooms and people eating cats and dogs and Putin’s disinformation and lack of understanding about how taxes work and benefit everyone, it was a pathetically accurate condemnation of our educational system. Trump said that he loves the uneducated, and oh boy, did he know how to leverage them to the benefit of himself and his benefactors.

What I want to hear for 2026 and 2028 is how Democrats are going to prevent this from happening again. I want to hear how they aren’t going to let these people run off into the sunset with our money and our data.

Border: sensible enforcement without cruel and unusual punishment, splitting families, or targeting political speech.

Tariffs: repeal and return to the negotiated rates from the Biden administration

Taxes: return to the rates we had under Clinton, when the budget was actually balanced. Sensible entitlement reductions (eg shifting full retirement age to 70). Adult budget process so Treasury auctions remain successful.

Social justice: this is a buzzword that doesn’t translate to national policy.

DEI: focus on equality of opportunity for all Americans rather than selectively persecuting minorities by firing them from Federal service. Restore the DOJ enforcement of civil rights

Russia/Ukraine: work with Europe to continue containing Russian aggression.

Energy: get out of the way of market-based decarbonization of energy supplies, by not artificially propping up coal and petroleum.

EVs: better infrastructure for charging and upgrades to the electrical grid so we can keep up with China and other 21st century economies, and not be stuck as a relic of the 20th century as desired by Republicans.

All of this - and in plain, simple language. And don't be afraid to say that Republicans and Trump have lied to get votes. You don't have to get down in the weeds - keep it bread and butter.

Will Democrats support a law that lets families be held in detention together?
A court case from the 1990s disallowed this and led to 'kids in cages'.

The same things it always stands for:

Stable and growing economy
Job creation
Investments in our people and country through education, infrastructure and repatriating manufacturing from abroad
Rule of law for all.
Civil rights for all
A functioning government that works for all people.
FEMA
USAID and other soft power levers

Etc.

Oh come on, maga troll. Democrats don’t hate guns, we just want them owned by sane people. We might very well need them if Trump refuses to leave.

This is an important point. Don’t treat the average voter as an educated policy wonk. The average American reads at a middle school level.

Cute fiction, but MAGA are the ones who decided to end the American experiment.

Thank you, it’s important to note that so many of the MAGA cult members believe things like this. They are a lost cause and we shouldn’t waste energy trying to appeal to these far right extremists.

We need a Watergate style political wipe out of the GOP for this to happen. If we end up with another close race and a Senate below 60 and a house within 5-10 votes of a majority, then we are stuck with more of the same. If we really want to re-establish ethics and codify the parts of the republic that made the US actually great, then we need reform legislation and the means to rebuild what has been destroyed.
