Because in our culture, the thankless administrative grunt work tasks --->that everyone then criticizes --are done by moms.

This.
When's the last time Dad got a dental school form signed?

lol quite the specific call out - I did this for both of my daughters (dad).

I am sure that, like everything, it is a mixed bag. I am a soccer dad with a handful of kids and do literally everything that has to do with sports (forms, driving, planning, etc).

Extremely unusual.

Maybe, but I know others, besides myself... I am much more invested in my children's athletics than my wife is. If I didn't do it, it wouldn't get done.

Fellow Dad here. Agree. If left up to my wife, a lot of the extra curriculars' probably wouldn't get done.

I do all sports related stuff and my wife only covers when I can't do it. My kids are in two separate major clubs and the split between moms/dads being the primary sports parent is about even. One club has no TM and the other has a female one, who is quite good.

We have a male one "who will do anything" to enable his child to succeed. If he only knew how much he is hurting his kid by bulldozing.

Our kids are U13 and up and dads generally seem pretty involved. My DH is the team manager and we know a few other dads at our club who are their teams’ managers. My male colleague is the TM for his kid’s team as well.

Male TM’s are snakes.

Are there not? I'm a dad who's been the TM for my daughter's team for three years and is now also the TM for my son's team. (Might not manage two travel teams in future years if I can avoid it.) Can't say I've ever really noticed or thought about whether any other TMs are men or women; I usually only exchange emails with whoever they are.

Anonymous wrote:There is no such thing as volunteer work. TM task is do all the work and in return your kid will play full minutes and won’t get cut. Coaches try to accommodate by balancing but in the end. The TM gets paid back that way.

If you have a kid who is in the bottom of the roster then volunteer for TM.

This has not been my experience as a TM, and I wouldn't want it to be, either.

Both men and women have been great at our club over the years. Some people in general are better at it than others. It does take a bit of time so people with a lot of kids and jobs that are truly intense probably struggle more than people with less on their plates, but I think anyone who offers to help deserves credit for doing that.

WTF males are incompetent like asking them to clean the house

TM duties on top of running a family and FT job is a lot of work. Many have no idea or appreciate the work that goes into being a TM. Every parent should give it a try for 1 year and see. Worst part is trying to collect team fees. Hate it when parents won’t pay up like everyone else.

Can we pass a bill to enforce term limits on team managers? After two seasons you gotta go!

And yet all you have to do is volunteer yourself! Teams can have 2 team managers. I don't think you realize just how much work is involved in being a team manager...trust me, if you volunteer, your current TM will likely be very grateful.

Our TM is a dad. He will twist everything around and thinks everything he says is right. His ideas are the best and most brilliant idea.

Yes this is the very loud both vocal and appearance dad on the SYC team. He wants to make himself be seen and known.
