There’s definitely a difference. |
They are? I could have sworn VDA girls has ECNL , as does Arlington, Richmond and Pipeline. Did they all move their boys to MLS Next ? That would be surprising since they have a ton of kids who play for HS.There is only one DMV club that got kicked out of ECNL girls and had to go GA as a back up. |
yes currently which means both genders.. all have investigated MLSN and its only matter of time. ECNL is cooked in 2 years. |
If they both put the player in front of the same college coach then there is no difference. That is what matters to me as a parent. Now what teams are in each league and what players play in each league, I could care less. |
So there’s no difference between the leagues? Equal number of college commitments in number and quality? |
Your apathy will get you a walk-on spot at Mason, congrats its D1! |
That’s not what they said at all. You are such a dumbass. Everyone agrees there are more commitments overall in ecnl. All they said is that for their child, they will play in front of the same college coaches that their child is interested in. More players committing to schools they aren’t interested in doesn’t matter to them. |
| The OP was asking about a U13 player. Like most have said, go with a club that is going to help her develop and love the game, and a club where she will want to continue to play soccer when she gets older. Worry about exposure, etc. (assuming that’s what she even wants to do and play for) when she’s U15and up. If you pick the wrong club and environment now, there could possibly be no U15 to worry about. Also, when you start to look into the leagues, look into the leadership and what the league stands for. There are a lot of good resource out there, including podcasts, where you can get a feel for what each prioritizes. But again, your focus should be on the club and coach, not the league. |
More former girls ECNL quit playing in their first year of college than any other girls league. Something to consider. |
More former girls ECNL get injured in their first year of college than any other leagues. |
Please show us, tell us, share with us any non-FCV girl from GA who has got a P4 offer in the last two years since FCV fell apart in the DMC. I'll wait... |

Across the country, ECNL teams are generally more successful in tournaments than GA teams competing in the same events. |
Problem with today's soccer. Want the results now vs. when it matters. Teams next year for U15 have a pretty good surge of players that have been off the radar due to teams they have played for and are taken over positions on starting teams. The players who thought they had position locked now have parents scrambling to get them on another team. |
| There will be more of this as we head into a recession. Even though its the first advice everyone gives, pick something close to your house or school, from my experience few follow it because of the crazy number of club options in the DMV. My prediction is more parents are seeing the benefit of smaller clubs that only spend time on development. The clubs are not looking for a badge to attract players, they simply want the numbers and growth to continue training all the kids the same way and they get better incrementally out of the spotlight of pre-ABC leagues. These kids are getting better faster and in a nicer environment without the pressure to win everything! |
