| Again. There is no difference. There are ECNL teams who beat GA teams and there are GA teams who beat ECNL teams. An both are equally providing exposure. The key here is to focus on your own player and what they can do. |
If you are only measuring the relevance of the region simply by looking at the number of national championships they’ve won then you’re missing the point. Ask a college coach if you ever meet one, they’ll have the DMV on their travel itinerary. |
They do not provide the same level of exposure. |
There’s no monopoly in this market like other ones. Everyone is well aware of the saturation in the DMV. No gatekeepers in this area, keeping clubs out like others. You all act like these big clubs did it without politics. |
Eh, weak argument. Of course there are individual standouts here. However, there should be WAY more. Unfortunately, the nature of the area has led to lots of infighting and change for the sake of change. |
|
I'm happy I have an actual argument going! Bravo! However, the point still stands, DMV should be way better than it is, but "reasons" have kept that from happening. You don't think other areas deal with politics? Why is DMV so behind elsewhere? |
| The irony is 100000 too when talking about other ares using politics to keep strong teams. Please look in the mirror. |
Makes no sense. ECNL started as a girls only league, not an afterthought/attachment to boys leagues which was the historical reality. The top ECNL clubs aren't going anywhere and the league provides much more college exposure as a result. |
Agree the last part. Focus on your player now. Who knows what the landscape will be in even two years. Also agree there are GA teams that can beat ECNL teams and the other way. Beating a team is not a test though. Both do not provide equal exposure at the moment. ECNL is much more robust at the moment. Could all that change -- sure. That is why at your age focus on what is best for the player. If your DD was at or near recruiting age now though you would want ECNL. |
Today, ECNL is tops for girls and MLSNext is tops for boys. If clubs could be ECNL for girls and MLSNext for boys, those leagues would stay the top for each gender. The fighting and alignment of leagues is forcing clubs to choose ECNL for both genders or MLSNext boys + GA girls. There's more money on the boys side, so clubs will gravitate girls to GA over time. I'm waiting to see when top ten ECNL girls clubs start migrating over to GA. It's not happened yet, as top girls clubs have moved over to ECNL. This will be interesting to see what the landscape looks like 3 or 4 years from now. What happens next? Tophat move to ECNL? Or Surf or Slammers move to GA? |
under Rules you cannot have MLSN and ECNL. Clubs are jumping on MLSN forcing girls to GA. Legacy clubs who have both have been told they need to choose one. MLSN is going to bring in more money. ECNL will be on life support going forward. |
ECNL current policy is you need both girls and boys side. They will not let you keep girls only. MLSN vice ECNL has also forced clubs to make a commitment for elite players. Meaning clubs are forced to pick ECNL or MLSN\GA. They are picking MLSN. |
Back to helping answer the OP's question. Has your daughter attended 3 or 4 practices of each team? If not, do that. Ask your daughter which group of girls she enjoys practicing with more. Does your daughter care if she's a starter or end of the bench for a team? If so, which is a better fit for what she expects regarding playing time? Regarding playing time, I don't know how GA works? My daughter is ECNL. Girls 15 and below on the roster don't play much and there's a rotation of those girls who don't dress for games because only 18 are allowed. I hear our ECNL-RL team is more fair with playing time where bench players are getting closer to half game minutes vs 10 minutes on my daughter's team. Is GA game minutes done the same as ECNL? |
For GA they can make 7 subs but no more than 5 moments. Half time does not count. We have a few girls that split the game. One plays first and the other second. Also have some girls who only play about 10-15 mins. Does ECNL have the same subbing rules? |
