That said, I would not put GA as tier 2. It’s more like tier 1.5

They are not even close to on par with each other locally. GA parents are hopeful the two get closer but the better ECNL teams destroy the best GA teams currently. If you don’t believe so, it means you’ve only seen GA games.

If you’re talking about quality of clubs/teams. Some are indeed on par. As a whole, not yet.

People also saying how GA’s college recruitment is catching up. False. No evidence of it closing the gap. Many people predict it will (me included). But not yet.

Sorry your post devolved...not surprising..there was a lot of good advice at the beginning.

Good luck with your decision, trust us old timers, it's not make or break at U13.

There are a lot of different ways to get to the same end and sometimes all your research and right decisions get impacted by outside forces.

Don't forget checking how much your daughter wants to pour into the travel and commitment. It can change every year.

Ultimate goal to play high school, which is great and fun and memory making, you are fine either way as long as she is getting playing time and good coaching.

Unfortunately theres no magic eight ball or right answer for everyone. Some day these GA/ECNL partisans will figure that out, in the meantime don't get sucked in, it's a waste of energy and time you can be spending with your family.

Over the years, I watched players who were subs blossom when the players in front of them moved on. All that taught me was that playing time in actual games is so, so important.

So true. Can't tell you how many times I've seen girls rot on the bench because their parents are so caught up in the ECNL title. Invariably those girls end up quitting and hating soccer. Makes no sense to put a kid through that when there are so many options now.

Does anyone know when the age/vs school year decision will be made for GA? I saw someone post an email from McLean awhile ago about tGA going school year but I don't know that I believe it as no one else has said anything from what I've seen. Correct me if I'm wrong!

Your world view is too small. DMV is barely anything in the national landscape. ECNL is fine, DMV has it's issues.

They aren't. They have 1 or 2 clubs that crack the top 20 nationally. It's all CA/TX/NY/NJ

With a DD now playing in college and out of the GA/ECNL fight I agree with the post above. You will likely have to change teams over the next few years unless you are super lucky. Pick the bet fit now and be prepared to move as needed.

We moved from a small club to a big club that was DA then GA then ECNL. That all worked well but DD could have had to move if things had gone in another direction.
