USC and NYU are significantly better than those other schools and require a better applicant profile.

Nope. Applicant profile are at the same level in general especially NYU except for Stern.

Dream on. People go to jail to get their children into USC. People on DCUM run for the hills before paying 90k a year for mediocrity.

One of academia's great and true mysteries. Just can't wrap my head around it.

Short of Stanford, it is the best network on the West Coast.

I think this hate is mostly from Emory/WUSTL parents who are nervous that there is not much that distinguishes #20 on USNWR and #40.

BC will never be ranked higher than WUSTL and Emory. Their alums and parents are not at all worried, and the gap between 20 and 40 in USNWR is massive. People with great academic credentials do not pay BC much mind.

Have you ever spoken to one of these “the gap between 20 and 40 is massive” people in real life? They are either your kind of people or they are people you leave parties to avoid. Whenever I read a post like this, I conjure up a mental image and just roll my eyes.

This particular poster has a huge … crush … on WUSTL and Vandy and he goes to insane lengths to create/make up huge gaps and fake comparisons/differences between his favorite schools and a particular “other” school. So, yes, indeed.

I have a huge crush on T25 schools when they are dragged in the mud by BC, which does not belong in the same paragraph as them. BC is not elite. It is for okay but unexceptional students from New England.

Perfect example of the "make up sh$t" option used by the BC hate pp (who is singularly responsible for nearly every negative response on this thread). Literally inventing bs that he needs to "respond" to.

There are multiple posters here saying BC is in the same tier as several T25 schools. It is absurd. As numerous other posters have pointed out, BC is neither elite nor worth 90,000 a year. You can buy a sports car or a good country club initiation fee every single year instead of paying for an okay college.

And to be fair, no one went to jail for the decades this nonsense existed previously and no one since. Still curious to me how the women end up in jail - Aunt Becky, Felicity Huffman, Martha Stewart. But the men?

If BC was half as good as boosters here claimed, men posting would gladly line up for a prison stint to get little Susie admitted. Deep down, they know it is not worth the trouble.

Plenty of posters, media outlets, and normal people walking the streets know BC is not as good as Duke.

In the STEM fields, especially CS/AI and engineering, NEU has surpassed BC so while it has a very good business program while BU has made a big push in engineering, many see alternatives in in-demand fields just in the Boston area.

Because it is women who actually act and pull the trigger so to speak. Men just... talk... and talk some more... and then let women do all the work.

MIT used to be a vocational school.
C, BU, and NU have a great history of serving working class and common people in this country.
That is a proud history opposed to the schools that were like country clubs for rich Whites.

Most T25 schools don't have a history of serving the common people with average SAT scores and it shows in their ranking and the high regard academia has for those institutions. I'd rather be in a country club for rich people than a working class school.

Whatever history you like who cares but, in terms of SAT scores and student profile, today is what matters.

The BC network within Boston is fine but you are competing with Tufts, BU, and NEU (to say nothing of Harvard and MIT and NESCACs or Ivy graduates looking to return home), none of which is a clearly better than the others. Because so much of the higher-paying Boston job market is biotech, it is less than ideal to got to BC thinking you will stay in Boston. Maybe you work back or middle office at State Street.

Data disagree with your imagination.

Yes and today, BC barely clears the T40 and there is no indication it will ever be a T30 school. Just accept that and decide whether 400k to live in the suburbs at a T40 makes sense for your family (for most, it does not).
