Why the hate for Boston College?

Let's take USNWR rank for private colleges to search for what's ahead of BC in the rankings. It ticks a lot of boxes for people in terms of size, location, sports, majors, happy students, and a feeling of wanting to help others in this world. Employers on this thread have commented positively (some even admittedly begrudgingly) on the students coming out of BC. The DCUM resident BC hater will come and argue how "massive" the difference is between the #s of the rankings. Ok. Fortunately, our kids have options and hopefully can choose a college that best suits them, which is our goal, right?

ND (18)
Vanderbilt (18)
CMU (21)
WUSTL (21)
Emory (24)
Georgetown (24)
NYU (30)
BC (37)
Tufts (37)

Correction, I mean it’s not T20 but tied at 21st. Soclose.

St Louis and Pittsburgh, both gritty towns with lots of good people.

Nope.

Same group = selective colleges in a great college city.

Keep hating.

Jesuits are all Catholic. Non Catholics don’t care about how you differentiate men in dresses

lol at NEU being selective

No one cares what you think. Objective data exists to prove your “lol” wrong.

With 20 pages of back and forth, I think many care what I think and many agree with my conclusions.

But honestly, I know it's just me talking to myself because not a single other pp shares my crazy.

See I invent fake digs against my favorite schools and then I “respond” by railing against BC. And I do this over and over and over again

But out of respect for the highest of holy days, I’ll honor my promise and “shut up”. Peace out ✌️

🙏🏻☦️

BC is Catholic, not orthodox.

We prefer to say Jesuit. Your confusion is understandable. That’s how we know you’re a hater and uninformed at that. Go eat an egg.

No confusion. Just indifference to your absurd demands.

Intolerance on Easter Sunday. That tracks. Haters gonna hate.

Anonymous wrote:The hate isn’t specific to BC- there is a lot of hate on this board for most private colleges that are not T20 (maybe even under T15) for universities and T4 for LACs.

I think it must have to do with sour grapes. Why else would some posters care so much about colleges their own kids don’t even attend?

They care because their kids go to elite schools and do not appreciate BC boosters saying they are in the same bucket as someone who got into Dartmouth. It isn't everyone's dream to go to BC.

My kid got in to Dartmouth and chose BC. Never even a second thought.

Not a troll. BC Carroll School of Managment with Gabelli Presidential Scholarship was a no brainer for the family over Dartmouth. Carroll School has top 25 wall street placement with Citi and UBS been target firms for IB. The Boston Mutual fund business is largely run and staffed by BC grads. Peter Lynch essentially invented the mutual fund.

Congrats to your kid for being a Gabelli scholar -- that's a big deal.

Is there a reason for USC's (T27) omission or just an oversight?

First you said "my kid" and now "the family" instead of "my family." So troll. Next time decide if your anecdote of turning down an Ivy for BC is for your child or neighbors.

Boston mutual funds were founded and are still led by Harvard and HBS alumni. They are staffed by BC/BU/NEU/Tufts/NESCAC graduates.

tl;dr What is a Gabelli?

Stop. The list of schools ahead of BC will then be really long. And we haven't even included LACs that are better.
