PP and I believe that besides undiagnosed/untreated mental illnesses legions of elderly slid into a precipitous cognitive decline during/around Covid. My elderly mom died from Covid complications and my significantly younger ILs spiraled into depression and cognitive impairment.

My MIL is someone who now has no patience in public and has become a complainer.

I am very wary of “friends” or “neighbors” who turn out to be closet Trumpers. I’m developing a way to weed them out so I can avoid avoid avoid. Climate issues are so behind the microplastics problem we have. That’s the one I need to know where people stand.

We’ve also generously supported the State of Maryland food bank. The Maryland food bank works with Maryland farmers on both the eastern shore and western shore to ensure Marylanders in need get fresh in season produce.

I personally think people have been mean forever but now that we have a mean President that so many people voted for (by a landslide even) that people think it is acceptable to be as mean as he is.

He refers to other people as scapegoats….in other words he likes to blame a certain group of people for society’s current issues which is just wrong.

Brings me to think of a time long ago….80 yrs ago when a certain political leader did the same thing.
He blamed a certain group of people for the then current issues and we all sadly know how that ended up.

I started reading DCUM just a couple years ago & was surprised to see the constant contempt for others in so many threads. Calling people a moron, idiot, stupid, is a regular occurrence. I didn't expect to see this level of ugliness considering the better umc life options & higher quality education the majority of this community has been blessed to have.

I have been in DCUM for 13 years and…

It hasn’t really changed much. The rest of society, maybe, this website, nope.
