After the first Trump election I personally witnessed at least 4 people lose their crap on people for, parking too close to the stripe next to a handicap space, there were 4 open and no one was parked in any of them.

A grown man screaming at a toddler, not his own, for some offense, I still can't figure out that one. The parent of the toddler called the police and the strange man was taken away in handcuffs.

I think it's all the Trumpers who were either emboldened by his crassness, or who felt hoodwinked by his broken promises, and were angry about it.

Why many voted a second time is beyond me. I think it will only get worse, because these same people are in shock and denial right now but sooner or later they are going to move to later stages of grief, anger, etc., we are all in for it.

This....I started seeing true meanness and evil when trump was elected in 2016-It's been a steady decline since. Look at J6....that day was horrific and now we have people lying and trying to tell everyone they imagines that day. Sick world.

To be clear, I was referring to the unfair detentions imposed on British, French, German citizens with legal paperwork or legal visa waivers, and no known history of any terrorist activities. Foreigners are legitimately worried right now when they cross a US border!!! But if you need to do so for work, you do it.

If you're referring to a US person who doesn't wish to travel internationally, then that's ridiculous. They're not going to be harassed abroad just because they're American.

This person was a foreigner with a green card. They were not white, but rather from a country that is on the visa ban list.

I do feel terrible. It was not even necessary for this person to go. I actually covered their work for them, which wasn't a problem at all.

Another thing -- we know a lot of federal workers. I keep running into people who are just don't care and don't feel bad. I was talking with a mom in a group of four other women. Our kids are good friends. She mentioned she and her husband were both caught up in the firings in conversation, wasn't fishing or anything just responding when people asked how you are. She walked off and every other woman in the group began crap talking her! Saying she was fishing for sympathy, talking about how lazy government workers are, this had to be done, etc.! Which is wild, because she really wasn't! She was very factual.

You would be shocked at the amount of subtle trumpers. Our street has at least 3. I actively shun them.

I volunteer with my church in a food pantry. We provide kind of a drive through food bag of groceries (staples) and families drive through. Second story, I was at work, and we had a meeting with another colleague who said she was PIPing an employee who refused to fly internationally for a conference. Someone tried to explain why this person might be worried, and she blew it off and said she was being dramatic. I know this employee, worked with her, and she's wonderful! I log in today and see the employee is gone. I felt terrible.

Third story, my husband coaches a sports team and it's small kids. And two men got in a literal fist fight over soccer.

I just spent days in the Deep South. DH, DS, and I are AA and we were in very MAGA spaces due to the activity so I steeled myself for awfulness. Didn’t experience any. People were “nice” to us no matter what horrible things they vote for.

On the way home, as soon as we got to Alexandria, VA, we encountered an incredibly entitled woman who made everyone miserable in under 10 min. Got on the Red line and people were so inconsiderate.

I think it’s now a self perpetuating cycle of people feeling more comfortable in being openly mean, instead of feeling social pressure to seem or act nicely, which makes acting mean seem more socially acceptable leading more people to act that way.
And a variety of factors that initiated it - internet comment culture, breakdown in “civil” political discourse, etc. This is possibly the first time trickle down has actually worked for something.

A woman cornered me in the grocery store so I was forced to move

A man honked and ranted and raved at a different point when my husband stopped in front of the store (different time) to let me and our daughter out

Biking - as many people do here - and I asked my son to move to the right so a man could pass. The man yelled “get out of the way!”

Just since Sunday! They were each 60+

Popular discourse is heavily emphasizing "boundaries"--which is fine for weak-willed people who may benefit from this kind of rhetoric, but what it does in practice is encourage mean people to be even more mean.
