Waitlist Field

How do people get waitlisted from Field? Do they have enough applicants to do that?

Obviously so. There's an entire thread dedicated to it where there's been no movement so far...

It's a smaller school, less acceptances overall and we know of a few rejections too.

I think the days of “full pay = automatic acceptance” at Field. We’re a financial aid family, but at least 2 full pay families we met through our educational consultant were waitlisted. Actually one WL and one outright rejection fulllpay. I don’t think they’ll have a problem filling their class. It’s become quite popular with their rebrand

Don’t sleep on Field. Their admissions event was packed. It’s a well rounded school with a lower stress environment. Great teachers. Impressive college outcomes. Refurbished and new facilities on a lovely campus.

The current eighth grade class is only losing one student (logistical reasons) for 9th so essentially everyone is returning. I think that’s a pretty good sign that people are happy at Field.

You'd know if they are in better shape than they were a few years ago if the genders have evened out in the grades. Though at Field its hard to know who is what gender. A few years ago they were wildly lopsided suggesting they took who they could get...

Middle school head in particular is super unprofessional - sets a terrible tone. Asks kids to spill the tea about each other, talks trash about his own kid to other parents, manipulates infraction reports to conform to false narratives, plays favorites and triggers students passive aggressively and then blames them for reacting - My spouse declared him the worse professional they'd ever encountered. I'm sure the same marketing dept that's famously all over this board will pose again as yet another happy family but..its a really wild badly run tone deaf place. Though they do put on an awesome open house.

Why does every thread have one horribly disgruntled person. I’m almost inclined to believe it’s the same person just stirring the pot on multiple unrelated school threads just to add in some drama.

It doesn’t take a marketing department to be repulsed by your anti-trans allusion in your first paragraph. So you lost me there.

It doesn't sound like you're a current parent given the timeline you're describing, but this line is crazy. You're saying this about other children that you know and that your own child was among "they took who they could get." I hope you found a school you're happy with that has a student population with gender norms to your liking.

This is a thread where OP is wondering about her rising 9th grader's chances of getting off a waitlist and you hijack it complaining about a middle school head and the way the students look. It's bizarre.

+1 I think it's an anti-private school troll.

Consider it a gift and move on.

Admissions professional here --PP is correct-when you see 5-6 more of one gender it can indicate a weak pool and yes kids come into middle with one gender and exit upper with another and its hard to predict..Its not a positive or negative comment at all from my perspective. Its data that is part of the process -and Field has been known to be very welcoming to trans students .

Really? You’re defending the tone and spirit of what was posted by that person?
You’re also missing the bigger point of this thread which is that Field has become selective and waitlists full pay students. So the poster you are defending had to reach back at least a few years to spew forth a rant with a lot of ugly, unnecessary and personal attacks. But thank you for your expertise and weighing in about admissions and gender.

They need the money. Everyone gets off the waitlist at Field eventually
