Waitlist Field

Also commented above for Field. Not a marketer but a parent with a happy kid who is thriving,. This board is this board....talk to families to make your decision...

We looked at Field after DS was accepted and decided differently, not because it didn't seem like a lovely place but because our kid is pretty-STEM centered. Field has nice spaces but it didn't seem to have as STEM-focused a cohort.

That said, you have to be a real piece of work to call kids B- anywhere. I hope you aren't at our kid's school.

You sound so interesting and like a great person! How do we get to know someone like you??????? Which urban urbane school can we apply to hang with you?

just kind of a dumb place with a lot of uninteresting suburban families with a little bit of money. Sort of like the head of school.

We found the school to be warm but lacking in any kind of intellectual rigor. High priced and just kind of a dumb place with a lot of uninteresting suburban families with a little bit of money. Sort of like the head of school. Who fits right into that mold.

Burke though more urban was for us far more sophisticated and serious about education with deeply thought out connective tissue across the learning centers. And teachers that are more educated and well read.

But again. Know that the Field marketers start and manage threads on this board aggressively. So expect them to pounce on this with testimonials about how fabulous the place is.

It’s not. It’s a B- place with B- teachers and B- kids.

Congrats, though odd place to post it.

When will the waitlist start moving? Deposits are due Friday no? So we should start donating to the new building project now or is it best to way until next week 😉

I think you'll get off the waitlist, OP!
From another very happy parent!
And BTW, they finished all the classroom remodeling over the summer, on time the last two years which I thought was impressive.

Good luck!

FWIW, I’m the person who brought up the upcoming changes/remodel and I’m a happy parent, not part of Field’s “marketing department”. Too funny. Field has been a life changer for my kid who felt unsafe in our public school. NO School is perfect, but for first time in years my kid is not refusing to go to school.

Have you called the admissions office? They're very friendly and helpful. I hope you get off the WL, OP! Keep us posted.

I appreciate your positivity!!! We’ve been on edge since March 7

I don’t want to bombard them. I’m sure every waitlist parent hoping to get off has made the call. I’m not sure calling is what will sway them to choose us.

Will they actually share info about whether we can expect movement or anything specific to my child? That changes things. Did you get in off the waitlist in a previous year?

No sense in calling if they’ll just give the generic “we’ve noted it in your file and deposits are due March 21 so we’ll notify families starting then”

I think it never hurts to express enthusiasm- that your son would accept if taken off the WL and you're just calling to get a pulse check on where things are at as the deadline arrives, if they anticipate going to WL or if they'd really have no idea until after Friday.

The point in calling is to let them know that Field really is your first choice. That enthusiasm may not have come through during the interview and/or someone else on the waitlist may have done that and get bumped above you.

I’ve heard it said before that you should only tell one school that they’re your first choice. Tbh, our first choice is wherever we get in off the waitlists. Currently we don’t have a seat anywhere so is it wrong to tell both schools they’re our first option? Technically they are!

Anyone on the WL for Field hear back yet? Or is it hopeless before the 21st?

Speaking from a point of practicality, as long as you accept the first one that offers and then follow up with the other to ask to be removed from the waitlist, sure, go ahead.
