Contractor Cuts: Booz, Deloitte, Leidos, etc.

The most funny thing is that the people who are complaining how bad things are now, seem to completely ignore the fact that millions are trying to come to USA facing untold obstacles and risking death. It does not add up!!

There's no grift, PP. I work hard, a lot harder than some of the Feds on my client team. I deserve every dollar that I earn. What I want to know is that after they let go so many of the Feds and stop all the contracts, who is going to do the work? Who is going to actually make sure the American people get what they need?

Thank you for the service and we need people like you. My spouse is also a Fed and works 45+ hours each week. There are a lot of such hard working Feds.

But I also know of many who do not put in the effort, among the people I know it is like two don't work for everyone who does. So there is a lot of waste. There is no doubt in my mind. But Musk and Trump should have gone about this thoughtfully and respectfully. You cannot mock and humiliate people like they are doing.

This is the real problem.

If you had thoughtful people trying to figure out how to save money, you wouldn't find it strange to look at how much $$$ goes to 3rd parties and make sure those contracts make sense. The problem is you don't have thoughtful people, so it's cancel all contracts...see what breaks, and then make panic calls to please come back and make things work again. Hence what you are seeing with the FAA right now.

The bigger issue is who is going to want to contract with the government going forward without requiring a large up-front security deposit and immediate payment upon delivery? You would be crazy to offer terms on anything knowing that you might be stiffed for things you already delivered.

We don’t have kids (and won’t be, in light of the current economy) and my husband’s stable job is here, but i also am so depressed and wish I could leave. We also just bought a house.

Why would you hold off having kids.

That doesn't make sense, especially if you are looking at a situation where one patent might be home for a few years.

Uh, I have two amazing kids, and every day lately, I look at their happy little selves and feel so much grief about the country we are leaving them.

I really wanted kids, too. I despise everyone who voted for this who has taken that away from me. I will never get to have a family thanks to this administration. It’s horrible.

+1000 I really hate them. I am lucky and not directly connected to fed or adjacent world. We will still feel it. It is 40% of the economy here and 25% of GDP of the country. We have been getting resumes but we are screening out republicans.

The reckoning of a deep, long recession that hurts those it always does--the... shall we say... less intelligent among us--will be shocking. Yes, DMV will get wrecked--but the smart people here will move to take up remaining good jobs. It'll be J.D. Vance's white working class that takes the hit, again. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Deloitte is rescinding summer internship offers. My nephew had his rescinded due to structural realigning.

SIL reached out to see if my company had any internship opportunities open. Unfortunately, no. We also canceled our internship program for this summer to conserve funds.

Deloitte got destroyed in the cuts due to USAID.

You will never have a family if that is what YOU choose. No one else is responsible for that choice but you.

Why the hell would you bring kids into a world where we’ll all be living on the streets and in breadlines due to another Great Depression….

It’s not just USAID or government contracts. Private companies have had contractors from these firms doing a massive amount of work that will be gone due to deregulation. Their services will not be needed.

Yes but Deloitte in particular had many USAID contracts. Lots of smart and hardworking folks there but so far I haven’t heard any impacts to the elitist consulting firms like McKinsey, BCG, Oliver Wyman.

Accenture Federal also hit hard. Their largest contracts were at Education. They also lost a big USAID contract. They got rid of “the bench” - once you roll off you have to use PTO or terminated. Scrambling to find projects for those displaced, but not enough seats for everyone. Lots more contracts will likely be under scrutiny. It’s too bad because honestly they did a decent job.
