Not in FCPS. Lots of classes, like language, are not weighted at all. |

Dd got in with 4.2 GPA, a bunch of APs, and 2 DEs. Extracurriculars and sports too plus DH and i are hokies.
Did not submit SAT score. Accepted! ....now how to figure out how to pay for it. Tuition seemed to have increased (thinking with the federal cuts may have something to do with it?). And we hit that spot where we make too much to receive aid, but paying for college will bankrupt us. Sigh |
They give more than one acceptance per spot, all schools do. |
|
You can’t compare a 4.5w gpa in fcps with mcps. Mcps can go up closer to 5. 4.5 is the highest it really goes in fcps.
Also by really cares about major and having 40% first generation college students. They’ve hit that goal every year since 2022. |
Congratulations! Our DC is also a NSFA major and absolutely loves the program. Welcome, new Hokie! |
As opposed to every single other school discussed on this forum? |
| I’ve already seen one mom bragging about her kids acceptances even though she did Early Decision to W&M. So uncool. |
Which are PUBLIC schools. |
DP. Where did the PP claim her kid attended a private? Move along. |
| Reading these results it seems like some majors have a higher bar to acceptance? |
Definitely. Engineering for one. |
| What was GPA on average for Honors? |
| In Engineering honors, FCPS 4.5/4.0, highest rigor, 1550 good EC |
no, many more got in. 7,500 is the target class size. Not all accepted end up enrolling. |
PP here, was not invited to honors program as an incoming freshman. Also 11 AP, 3 DE including multivariable, diff eq, and linear algebra. ECs include sports (captain school and club), internship, jobs, volunteering over 100 hours (bronze award), and some school clubs leadership. |
