This is the pp of this post. I am shocked to hear about all the waitlists. 8 of dd's friends/classmates with stats basically the same as hers (maybe slightly higher/slightly lower) have been accepted.

In this day and age under 4.5 Wgpa is like a B student

Not in FCPS. Lots of classes, like language, are not weighted at all.

Dd got in with 4.2 GPA, a bunch of APs, and 2 DEs. Extracurriculars and sports too plus DH and i are hokies.
Did not submit SAT score.

Accepted!

....now how to figure out how to pay for it. Tuition seemed to have increased (thinking with the federal cuts may have something to do with it?).

And we hit that spot where we make too much to receive aid, but paying for college will bankrupt us. Sigh

It’s only the crazy DCUM crowd who post.

Trust me, there at many that got rejected. Not everyone gets in.

56,000 applied and like 7,000 got in.

Acceptance letter said something like 57,500 applications for 7,500 spots

They give more than one acceptance per spot, all schools do.

You can’t compare a 4.5w gpa in fcps with mcps. Mcps can go up closer to 5. 4.5 is the highest it really goes in fcps.

Also by really cares about major and having 40% first generation college students. They’ve hit that goal every year since 2022.

Congratulations! Our DC is also a NSFA major and absolutely loves the program. Welcome, new Hokie!

As opposed to every single other school discussed on this forum?

I’ve already seen one mom bragging about her kids acceptances even though she did Early Decision to W&M. So uncool.

This means their kid goes to Whitman, Walter-Johnson or Wootton in MCPS.

Which are PUBLIC schools.

DP. Where did the PP claim her kid attended a private? Move along.

Reading these results it seems like some majors have a higher bar to acceptance?
