There are state governors out there with similar Blue Dog views. We just need an open and fair primary so they can emerge as party leaders. No more mega donor chosen candidates!! |
| If we split the Democrats into the progressive wing and the centrist wing, I'd vote for the latter. |
Or just the 80% of our population that are normal Americans split off from the GOP and Dem Party madness and coalesce behind the "Normal People Party". You down with NPP? |
|
No more..
We need a parliament. It's clear Congress and the judicial branches can be too easily overthrown by the executive. Parliamentary rule. |
|
What are you talking about? We have plenty of 3rd parties:
Libertarian Green Democratic Socialist Forward Run candidates in local govt, then state. Then president if you want. No one is stopping you. |
I've been saying this for years. I wish we had a parliamentary system. I'm not sure there's any chance of that, unfortunately. |
This is revisionist history. Bill Clinton won because Ross Perot siphoned off libertarian-conservative votes from both GHW Bush and Bob Dole. Clinton won only 43% of the popular vote! |
| The Constitutional Party. |
A Perot from '92. The 1992 election gave us a glimpse into the future, 24 years later the "third" party did win. What does this mean as we see musky now? What is it trying to tell us about the US of A 25yrs from now (or sooner)? |
+100 if PP doesn't realize that the extreme left insanity of pronouns, cancel culture, constant racializing everything, social engineering mentality....DID PLAY A HUGE PART in the Democrats losing...well....you are in for a surprise. I'm a female moderate. While I voted for Harris, I fundamentally agree with Trump's EO establishing male/female as the gender/sex. All the gender ideology, cancel culture, DEI social engineering cr*p was getting too extreme. And I'll tell you this...it's not just my 50+ yr old generation who feels this way. And it's not just ultra-religious people who feel this way. I know many GenZs who agree that this extreme left insanity is a big reason (although not the only reason) why we have Trump. If above 2022 voter breakdown still holds true...you can bet your bottom dollar that a majority of the 36% moderates will not support moving back to the extreme left. |
Moderate Gen X here and I agree with all of this. |
Completely agree. The left looks insane. All you have to do is go on social media to get a sense of what your average person thinks about all the weird stuff Democrats support. |
This +100. Although I'd argue that both the Democrats and Republicans need to separate themselves from their respective extremist wings....to come together as the Common Sense Party. |
|
I do prefer to vote for third parties when I'm unhappy with both of the major options. That said, these are the two biggest problems here:
- In a plurality election, election math does not favor voting for anyone who's in third place. For a third party to be successful, they'd have to dominate at least one of the other two. - If a third party was electorally successful, then all of the questionable money that is ruining the other two parties would be funneled in the direction of the third party. |
