This is bad news for the technical people who work for places like PTO. They’ll take the deal and get more lucrative jobs. Offices are stuck without competent people. |
This. I would even contribute to his POTUS salary. |
Telling the PTO to RTO is bizarre. They've had a unique hoteling arrangement for decades, nothing to do with the pandemic or anything else. Only a dolt would tell them to go back in the building. |
Trump’s buyout tells me that he’s learned he can’t just fire everyone.
That administrative leave means people are getting paid for not going to work. That there are more civil service protections than Trump understood. This is his next move to undercut Feds and cheat them out of benefits with this invented “deal”. Trump is such a transparent huckster. |
For those who don't want to go back to work in an office it is a good deal. Take the money. Work remotely for a private company. |
Call everyone you know and tell them to contact their senators and congressman. The US government is literally collapsing right now and there will be nothing left if this is not stopped soon. |
Right. IF this money even actually materializes, you'd be entering an absolutely terrible job market, and that's before accounting for all the newly out of work former feds flooding the market. Remote jobs aren't just growing on trees these days. You'd be an idiot to take this offer. |
All of this because you can't go back to work in an office like other people in the private sector do every day? |
We're shocked that he's blatantly disregarding the law and also issuing such half-assed EOs that they are clearly legal. And throwing the whole country into chaos. Everyone knows that R's want to shrink the government. That's not the surprise. The surprise is that they don't care at all about following the law or ensuring ongoing democracy at all. Donald Trump looks like a half assed dictator from 1965. Made scarier by the fact that so many around him have a literal Nazi agenda. |
Many federal employees are fine with being back in the office. The ones who aren't are disproportionately represented here. Though I admit, they don't represent the federal workforce well. |
The employees aren’t driving this, it’s Trump. His goal is to gut the civil service and federal workforce. |
To quote George W. Bush: "This is some weird shit."
Our agency had to re-email everyone to let us know this was actually "real." |
Just another example of their bullying. Don’t become a victim of it. No one should take this buyout. Force him and his cronies to fire people, see gets voted back into office in two years. |
An earlier email message described this, what is expected is an offer for the employee to continue working remotely for 8 months if you agree to resign September 30.
I am retirement eligible and could get a good job in the private sector though possibly not immediately given the glut. I love my current job which is significantly shielded from the chaos, for now. If this is really resign and get paid for 8 months until September (no work required) I would seriously consider taking it. |
Ftr, I am already RTO, although telework is currently unclear.
I'm confused though. Is this buyout-not-buyout legal? Or will it be enjoined too? |
