It is not a buyout. I wish the media would report on this accurately. There is no guarantee you will be put on admin leave until you resign. The only perk you get is teleworking until your resignation date.
It is a trick. |

No, all this is because Trump wants to fire everyone and that's not how any of this works. Sure people complain about a RTO that is a complete cluster f*ck and doesn't take into account all the pre Covid telework. I've never seen more incomprehensible plans in my life, and I've worked in a lot of private industry positions as well as government. It reads like it is written by AI,.or someone who has never met a human. |
That's how it read to me. Hope someone has already lawyered up and taken them up on it. |
It's most likely not legal. He does not have the authority to appropriate funds. It'll get tied up in the courts and likely struck down, while you will already have resigned. Do not do this. Hes dangling money in front of you to get you to be complicit in his takeover of the government. It's so much bigger than you as an individual. |
+1 They should have grandfathered positions that were already remote pre Covid. |
+1 I read the email and I’m confused how anyone could take it any other way? They are saying if you don’t want to return to in person work, say so by responding to the email and you will be exempted from RTO policies AND that you will therefore resign by Sept. 30. I doubt anyone is going to get admin leave until Sept. 30 with how understaffed everyone is all the time. I guess you’d take it if you really didn’t want to/couldn’t work in person and were confident that you could find another job by Sept. 30. But it’s not an “8 month buyout” or whatever the hell the media is inaccurately reporting. |
When they sent the two USDA agencies to Kansas City during Trump 1, there was an initial promise of $25k for a VERA/VSIP. In the end, because the clowns didn't budget enough money, the amount paid was about half. |
I am concerned by the people falling for it. But it is being reported completely inaccurately and many people here are clearly not feds who got the email. But to any feds out there— please read the terms of what they’re offering extremely carefully. |
Falling for it? Can you not just work in the office? |
How is a RIF better? To someone in private industry this is a HUGE handout. Most give a few weeks to a few months. One company I worked with pushed fire dates up to end of month, so as to not let folks get health insurance for another month. I was in meeting where this was decided , big GSEs. |
We do not have a king in the united states. However, the office of the president has king-like powers. When you have someone willing to test the limits of those powers, we end up in this situation. I personally do not blame President Trump. I blame our supreme court for citizens united and continuously expanding the powers of the executive branch. |
Wow. Such a dirty trick by Elon.
It is not a buyout. You may still have to work from home until Sept. if you take the deal. You're just agreeing to quit in Sept. may still have to work the whole time. Apparently Elon crafted nearly an identical email for Twitter. Such a dirty, dirty move . |
I think it’s probably not legal and they know this. The plan is to get people to resign, then have the government accept resignation and the courts will determine that the buyout is not legal. However, the people have already quit so that resignation will remain, but people are screwed out of the illegal compensation offer. |
Say tbis again for the people in the back! |
