So you don't think it would encourage people to retire and get paid up until september |
You don’t work for an organization which is currently refusing to pay nonprofits, doctors, colleges the money they were promised. Sure, they will “Pay” you until September. Just like they won’t pardon violent criminals. |
this and where are these people all going to get new jobs, unless they are retiring. |
Is THIS REAL? |
If I resign can I apply for deferred retirement when I'm age eligible? |
Can you explain how a RIF is a better deal? This is 8 months of salary. |
Doge's goal. Cut down Fed employees. Appoint family and between the two evils they have tons of kids. |
Yes. It’s real. I would do the math because it seems like they are desperate to get people to quit before they figure out how to lay them off. Personally, no thank you but I know someone hoping to quit and then come back as a contractor. They were planning on that anyway |
Listen to this. Listen to workers who made ugly gold buildings and what happened |
They will reply, “resign,” and be forced to leave only to find out that he didn’t have authority to make the offer |
This is double the severance most companies offer. I’d be so gone if I was a fed. |
Check with your department but you will not be eligible for unemployment or health benefits that you will get if you resign versus being RIF’d. You get weeks of severance per year which will most likely be less than 8 months but the retirement benefits may be different for a resignation versus a RIF. And then you have to trust these jokers will actually pay you. |
But you aren’t a fed. That’s the difference. People are civil servants for lesser salaries because they want to be civil servants. There are also protections in place for reduction in force and for terminations. The real question is why is this administration trying to do this in a rush? |
From my understanding of the email, it’s just an extension of telework with an end date in September. You still have to work. |
There is no way I’d take this offer, none. Especially those who plan on retiring. I would be shaking in my boots that they would argue I forfeited my right to retirement benefits when I took the buyout. And don’t talk to me about legality, if we’ve learned nothing we’ve learned that they don’t care about the law they get the law to do whatever they want. Who’s going to hold them accountable? Their own Supreme Court? |
