They're children. You're absolutely vile.

Unlikely the children are illegal immigrants. Most likely the parents are, and the children are being taken in order to keep families together.

Would you rather have them take the parents and leave the children behind to fend for themselves? That's ridiculous.

If the children are not illegal immigrants then ICE cannot round them up. If the children are US citizens, they may be afforded the "opportunity" to be deported with their parents, but they cannot be forced to be deported. Parents can opt to arrange for kinship or guardian care or put them in the foster system. We do not deport US citizens, even those with illegal immigrant parents.

You cannot put your kids in foster care. You realize how much putting all these kids in care would cost too?

Perhaps "put kids in foster system" was not the best way to describe what I meant.

The USG cannot legally deport US citizen children without the consent of their illegal immigrant parent(s). The USG will offer to deport US citizen children with their illegal immigrant parents. Some parents will see it as in the child's best interest to remain with the parent. Some will see it as in the best interests of the child for the child to stay in the US. If that parent has friends or family members who are willing to care for the child, then the child will be under the guardianship of the parent-designee. If there is no one agreeing to be a guardian, the child will still remain in the US and would be treated like any other US citizen child who had no parents to care for them - that child would go into the state foster care system.

Yes, it is going to cost the USG a lot of money to raise the immigration-raid orphaned USG citizen children. Raising children is expensive, and in the US we mostly foist that care off on the unpaid labor of mothers. The outcomes are often worse for kids experiencing severe childhood trauma. Now, someone will have to be paid to care for these children. I do not think many will be adoptable because you would have to get the illegal immigrants to agree to terminate their parental rights. Good luck even finding those parents to get them to do that when adoptive parents are found.

This is a very ugly, expensive can of worms the Trump administration is opening by deciding to do these raids this way. But FAFO.

If a citizen child's parents are being deported, and want their child to be deported with them, why would ICE need to show up with a warrant and grab the child. Couldn't they just allow the immigrant parent to talk to someone who can take the child home, help them pack a bag, and bring them to the parent in ICE custody, either immediately, or after the hearings when they are ready to board a plane?

If the parents don't want their US citizen child deported with them, and would rather that the child stay in the US permanently, or temporarily and then join them through another means, then again ICE would have no need to be grabbing those children at school either.

Because terror and suffering is the whole point.
