Will MCPS stand against ICE?

I have seen some reports of ICE raids in other states. Will MCPS prevent this from happening here?

“We do not intend to let anyone into our buildings without warrants or without proper documentation or without support,” Taylor told Bethesda Today on Wednesday. “We are going to protect the rights of our students.”

Ok, so Elrich sucks. I just wrote to both MCPS and his office. They should have to present a warrant before taking anyone away.

MCPS cannot and should not "stand against" ICE. What makes you think a local public school district should prevent a federal agency from doing its job? Are you insane?

If they have a warrant there’s nothing you can do unless you want to go to jail for obstruction or harboring criminals.

Elrich specified that OF COURSE all warrants would be required so agents could step into buildings.

But you just wanted to bash Elrich, like you always do.

Of course MCPS will stand against ICE. We are a Sanctuary County. Undocumented immigrants are safe and welcome in Montgomery County.

Our school has already scheduled a meeting to support undocumented immigrants and to ensure that they know their rights.

Can you post an example of this happening?

Unlikely the children are illegal immigrants. Most likely the parents are, and the children are being taken in order to keep families together.

Would you rather have them take the parents and leave the children behind to fend for themselves? That's ridiculous.

ICE won't do that everyone is overreacting.

If they’re coming into the school chances are the parents have been/are being arrested and they’re looking to deport the family together.

What standing or power does MCPS have to prevent that from happening?
