Is it possible to check out and move to a different hotel? I’d see if another hotel is available and tell them you want a refund of the remaining nights. Then move unless they “make it right.”

I’d find the cheapest other hotel then ask for a refund and leave. Tell your bank they didn’t give you what you paid for

Except...they did get what they paid for. The original reservation was for a lower room type, and the upgrade fee was refunded.

All the posters chiming in about their “DHs being so good at this” just makes me sad. Is it because women are afraid of being called Karens they feel less equipped to advocate for themselves?




DW here - I am the one who is good at this in our household!! That being said, take the $50/night back .... express your disappointment. Maybe they will throw in a nice bottle of wine or a dinner....


I'm a DW and I am exceptionally good at this. My DH would be too nervous to ask for anything.

Sounds good. Unless they decide they prefer their new room, in which case they could try to get that one when they return.

I'd sue where I paid. They advertised to my in that jurisdiction and accepted payment there

Before I go downstairs this morning and ask for some other type of compensation, I’m wondering what that would even look like?

You can dispute charge on your credit card. If it's a hotel chain, email the CEO's office. That is what I do and they pass it to someone to deal with it. Also tweet them.
