My advice would be to shoot high, a free night would be perfect. Stay calm, no raised voices, why you love this hotel, you have recommended it to friends, blah, blah, blah. Let us know how it goes.

This is exactly what my DH would do, and he’d get it.

Go for the better suite upgrade

This vintage Dom Perignon is 57 degrees. And I was distinctly told it would be served at 54 degrees! How are you going to going to compensate me for drinking it.

Why do I think hotels can't guarantee specific rooms?

All the posters chiming in about their “DHs being so good at this” just makes me sad. Is it because women are afraid of being called Karens they feel less equipped to advocate for themselves?

My answer really depends on what kind of hotel this is - is it a large national chain? It is a small family-run boutique inn?

DW here - I am the one who is good at this in our household!! That being said, take the $50/night back .... express your disappointment. Maybe they will throw in a nice bottle of wine or a dinner....

I would still enjoy the vacation but I would also definitely talk to the hotel manager and get some comps for my ‘emotional distress’ A night comped or at least some drink vouchers for the bar. Comped dinner at the hotel restaurant… something like that.

I am so glad I am not married to someone “good at” these kinds of things. “Congrats, you married a jerk, here’s your free breakfast”

Expecting things you were promised *and paid for* is not being a jerk. Quite the contrary, it’s idiots like you who have essentially ruined so many once-great commodities by downgrading your life in such a way that it lets people off the hook with no consequences. I despise your kind.

As my grandfather used to say "these are the problems you hope to have."

It's a pathetic flex for sure

We've already figured out it's the White Lotus Resort Hawaii.

Well everyone despises your kind, from other guests to all the staff to random strangers on the Internet. It would upset me if you DID like me, given you have execrable manner and taste.
