Questions about DOGE and RTO

We literally cannot fit everyone in the building by a factor of ten. Pre COVID they were basically begging us to go on teleworking if we were eligible because they were running out of office space and only maybe 15% of the staff was in office at the time.

I could handle this for 6 months after January. But we’re moving to an office a fraction of our current one and the plan was to be in twice a week while a different coworker used my office the other 2 days of the week. The office space and furniture are already up with that scheme in mind. How are you gonna fit double the people in the same space?

I can personally go in fine, but since COVID, I've personally trained 3 people who work in other states. I have colleagues in Alaska. And it's not like we're hurting for work, they've hired so many because we've been drowning in filings since COVID hit, our productivity numbers are up but we've been flooded. We're a fee funded agency so maybe we'll be left alone, but who knows.

It’s all so silly and I don’t know if they are just con artists but actually believe what they say. Yesterday Vivek tweeted complaining about agencies not implementing GAO and OIG recommendations to reduce fraud, waste and abuse (that outside parties are usually doing to the govt). How on earth do you think agencies are suddenly going to be able to implement all of these supposedly great recommendations if you get rid of all the staff and remove agencies ability to create new regulations?

This is not great for parents of young children who may not have much aftercare at their daycares. Our former daycare really cut back hours post COVID. We are lucky that our older kids can stay at their elementary school until 6:30pm, but this is not the case throughout DCPS.

Isn't the purpose to cut a significant percentage of feds? Why do they need the entire population?
