Do you mind sharing school name ? Was his stats in the green area of his schools scattergram if you checked or was this an exception? |
From Nov 8th? It's not in the transcript. |
| Ignore the trolls |
McLean/Langley. His stats were on the borderline between green and red so we were surprised he got in. I provide this information to counter the endless posters who say that you need a 4.0 UW GPA, 4 years of foreign language and Calc BC or 12+ APs to get into UVA. You don't. DS sure didn't have those qualifications. But it sure does help! YMMV this year. Good luck to everyone! |
11/14 -- was at his DC event -- heard it live (and my husband looked at me and said -- don't tell our kid)! |

So 5000 more than early last year. Not a huge difference. |
+2 The test scores are for those submitted. A majority of the kids are TO and they have much, much lower scores or they would have submitted. DC’s friend attends UVA, got in TO and couldn’t crack 1200 on the SAT. 3 tries. |
Also, unclear how many of those 5k are even in state. |
- wow! they must have had stellar ECs/grades/etc. - guessing that friend is pretty impressive |
Well, Math. In 2022 it was 40k In 2023 it was a 3+% increase to 42k In 2024 at 47k is a 10% increase. Not sure what you’d consider a “huge difference” — ?? |
Correct. Last year UVA received 42,000+ for ED and EA (58,000+ total). With the rapidly rising cost of privates a 5,000 increase for this fall's EA/ED would seem about right. |
A majority "of the kids" are not test optional. 50% submit the SAT; 17% submit the ACT; 33% are test optional and it appears that may be gone by fall 2026. https://nextadmit.com/blog/uva-sat-scores/ |
Yeah as an hourly seasonal contract worker. |
Not if you go to a high school that isn’t that competitive. Also you’re an adult so you should already know this—but starting a sentence with “no offense but” does not negate the offense in your statement. Seriously. Rather, it should be an internal cue to you that the thing you are about to say is too rude to say. |
