Legal immigrant status

Anonymous
I don’t think the Us will ever ban legal or illegal immigration. It’s too much of a boon financially-all the Green Card applications and work permits where people pay for entry and re-submissions of work permits yearly, and as for illegal immigration, corporations love it and many illegal immigrants file taxes and pay Medicare and SS taxes that they can’t qualify for.

If Republicans become gung ho about illegals immigration, it’s a sneak way of dissolving Medicare and SS for seniors.

If you paid any attention to the rhetoric around the legal Haitians in Springfield, OH during the campaign, you would have your answer.

It should require that one or more parents are citizens

No, most people don't think we should get rid if birthright citizenship.

We’re legal immigrants and we’re not even slightly or vaguely concerned.

In 2018, a woman from Mexico who was married to a naturalized US citizen (who had served as a US Marine) and who had a US-born daughter was deported back to Mexico. Apparently, even though she had kept checking in to U.S. Immigration and Customs officials and even applied for citizenship, she was denied because of a he-said/she-said situation at the time of her applying for asylum at the border when she entered the country. They said she lied -- she said she never said what they say she said.

She was considered a low priority until the Trump administration made her a high priority. This is exactly what they say they want to do again, only this tie, they are adding naturalized citizens as a target.

If they say you lied and you say you didn't, then the naturalization process can be determined never to have actually occurred. And, like this woman, you can lose all appeals (if the applications to appeal are even processed).

... Her mother, Alejandra Juarez, was finally leaving for Mexico, rather than be sent off in handcuffs, after exhausting all her options to stop her deportation.

"My mom is a good person. She's not a criminal," Pamela said, cursing at the immigration agency before her mother checked in for her flight from Orlando International Airport.U.S. Immigration and Customs officials, which typically went after higher-priority targets like people with criminal records. Temo didn't figure his vote for President Donald Trump would affect them personally. That was before the enforcement of Mr. Trump's "zero tolerance" policy toward illegal immigrants.

When people tell you who they are, believe them.

When they tell you what they are going to do, prepare for it.

Trump is appointing a border czar who is explicitly saying that naturalized citizens will be scrutinized, and one way to cut down on blowback is to deport entire families instead of leaving some here, if they can. Listen to him.

Someone hasn't read the Constitution

Yes most of SCOTUS. Trump can do anything and SCOTUS will make up the legal mumble jumble.

So she had no grounds for asylum and got deported, which is correct.

OP - thank you. My husband and I am truly worried about this. I am not a natural born citizen. I had a green card for 2 years. But my whole life is here in America.

Don't break any laws, certainly not any major ones, but don't break any minor ones either. Reckless driving you are potentially out of here, DWI, not even a question, pack your go bags. Keep your nose squeaky clean, and I mean squeaky. But even that might not even save you, or a loved one, because the Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Acts, secret evidence rule, and many others post 9/11. In short, you can be deported, and not really told why you are being deported.

Can they deport everyone, obviously not, but they can deport enough to keep the Maga base supplied with red-meat. The high profile will be the most egregious of course, but they are also going to need to supply numbers, and your individual anecdotes will be just that. No one will really care, everyone has a sob story, so any head will do and can go towards the tally.

Next time vote for the party, and encourage everyone you know to vote for the party, up and down the ballot, that isn't anti-immigration.

Learn the history of the country you chose to make your home. It's complex but certain themes tend to repeat themselves and without the major Immigration reforms of 1965/1986/1990, this country would look very different. These bills were made possible and passed in a Congress controlled by Democrats, in a time when Republicans did cross the aisles, and ultimately landed on the desks of Presidents Democrat/Republican who felt safe in signing them because they did have some bipartisan support.

The crazies, Republican's who in no way shape or form reflect the party of old, that existed when these bills were passed. So everyone saying they know what is going to happen is just talking.

When she said she did (and she was right), and they said she lied, the Trump officials went with not believing her account was accurate. But it was.

Because a Democrat state senator kept fighting for her? You might want to brush up on the news.
