Trump’s plan to improve dc

To be fair, I wonder if all voters actually fully understood what Prop 83 meant. Some people might have just seen as “oh look more choices to vote” and just checked the box for shts a giggles and out of confusion.

I did it knowing that it could result in more moderate candidates.

But did anyone else pay attention to the campaign from a lot of pandering liberals and left leaning folks who said “oh no! We can’t have ranked choice! It’s too confusing for poor voters in Ward 7 and 8!”

Like it was this ironic and extremely rude mindset that poor people didn’t understand it or, really, that they should be protected from their own choices. Just so much soft bigotry of low expectations. Like it’s pretty fked up that some know it all progressive would try and shoot down ranked choice under that banner. Basically, they knew that it could lead to more choices and potentially, gasp, less candidates like Nadeau. Pretty underhanded and patronizing.

Personally, I am delighted by the prospect of a deep clean. Let’s see what can actually be done.

He's not worried about world leaders touring NOMA or Columbia Heights. He will punish DC to make libs look bad and hurt. That's his goal, pain. I'd love to see crime drop in the city and I agree we need a different approach. I think the assumption here is this is pain you all won't feel being wealthier and whiter but we will all feel it if DC becomes a mini-police state.

Our education system is so completely bloated and broken and Mendelson thinks he can solely provide oversight.

We have a Chancellor, Deputy Mayor, OSSE Superintendent, Charter School Board and Mayor and our proficiency rates are so completely abysmal that 1-2% gains are celebrated as achievement forgetting that they are no where near even 50% districtwide.

What is the world did Ed reform and mayoral control of schools even accomplish except take a failing democratic process and create a bureaucratic albatross. I would love it if DC's failing public education system was first in line for improvement. Get rid of the incompetent leadership first!

I have spent years stewing in anger as our city leaders have done everything in their power to aid and abet violent criminals. They have implemented policies which are contrary to evidence and common sense/decency (like dumping violent criminals in Ward 3 apartment buildings and doing nothing as those psychopaths terrorized formerly nice communities, or dumping millions of dollars into “violence interrupters,” or overpaying millions of dollars to landlords to take voucher tenants, or legalizing juvenile crime… the list goes on forever). Our city leaders, who are so transparently corrupt, need to be punished. Home rule needs to be partly abrogated (I doubt they’ll completely do away with it) to restore sanity and order to our city

If you really think Trump is going to do anything positive for DC ir any blue state/ city. He only cares about himself

His narcissistic tendencies may be useful in creating the gilded city he’d want foreign dignitaries to visit. Who knows. Can’t make it less safe than it is now thanks for progressive oversight.

This is very naive. DC 100% could be less safe. Clearly you've never lived in a place with truly high levels of violent crime. Additionally, it may be less safe in the ways you aren't thinking about. Many of us here are the "enemy within" .. it may not just be punish the criminals but also punish those that don't love and support me. He's told us who he is again and again and everyone chooses to believe he will be different.

Anyone who supports reopening beach drive doesn't support making DC better.

+1 people have so high expectations.
I expect zero changes in DC besides making his family and friends wealthier. He will probably spend more time in Florida than DC.

It’s sadly people like you who lost us this election. You spoke down to and ignored law abiding citizens. So they voted out of spite for a criminal. Like Brexit

This. Doesn't really care about DC one way or the other. In fact, the more lawless crime in DC, the better to feature in Trump's fundraising.

What experience does the federal government have in running a city? How do envision this takeover actually happening?

Eh, watch it happen. I don’t care if it’s any better since I live what you call Whiteopia. Will be happy with DC Council going to jail and being out of jobs while my property skyrockets in the nicest part of NW.

I used to live downtown, DC Council ruined it with crime dirt ATVs steeling the taxpayer money and taking bribes. I could afford to leave and watch my house earn another $1m+ in 2 years. Guess who didn’t get to leave and us getting shot up and killed early if not by crime by the noise pollution and stress? Not me.

I used to care a lot. Now I don’t
. Bribe-taking DC Council what done it.

One party rule has really destroyed DC. If anything maybe two democrats should run against each other! The violence was too much for me. My friends preschool had a shootout next to it a few months ago.

Criminals need to be in jail instead of released instantly. We were car jacked and car was involved in a crime. It truly upended our lives (car was impounded for months, we had to purchase a rental car ourselves, we had to testify) and then nothing happened to the guys! They were released.
