It is not irresponsible to update the kitchen and HVACs in schools?

WTF is wrong with you people?

Except that’s not what they’ll do. They’ll create a new building for Montessori.

You don’t understand. For every project that needs to get done APS has another it wastes money on. Until voters out some real pressure on them they will continue to waste money until they won’t be able to fix a roof or even a door hinge they will be so broke. All you people just always voting yes and always voting for the democrats are what is making this school system as irresponsible as it is. There is no accountability to voters. None.

F the kids in the process, right?

It takes a real POS to vote against this bond.

Saying no to proposed APS spending does not make the person a POS or “F the kids.” Again liberals demonizing people who disagree with them. I get that this is what you believe Donald Trump does (as do I) but you cannot recognize it in yourselves.

There is no rational reason to block basic school upgrades.

Sure there is.

This is not the first bond in recent years. That bond money was frittered away.

There is no rational reason to not expect the school bond to be used for the stated purposes without so much waste that minimal work is accomplished.

Totally irrelevant, except to Republican trolls.

An example of wasteful spending isn’t relevant to a discussion of current spending?

Ohhhhhhkay

Not saying there aren’t old buildings in North Arlington, just that it’s South Arlington’s turn for some of the funds.

But ANY money going to option schools? HELL to the NO.

Amen (and I am in NA).

TJ and Gunston both need to be rebuilt. Especially TJ, largely windowless. Historic but aging schools like Barcroft and Barrett need major renovations and code upgrades.

It includes feasibility studies for TJ and Barrett:

"Conducts Feasibility studies for five (5) facilities: Thomas Jefferson MS, Taylor ES, Barrett ES,
Swanson MS, Randolph ES, based on the Long-Range Plan to Renovate Existing Facilities’
Methodology"

No, they are not creating a new building. It’s an existing building.

Republicans love to spread lies.

Why are we considering a $$$$$$$$ renovation for Montessori when many of our other buildings (particularly those in SA that always get overlooked) are in need of HVAC and other updates?

So yeah, it’s gonna be a NO for me.

Are you just trolling?

The bond includes:
>Roof and HVAC upgrades at Dorothy Hamm, Escuela Key, Hoffman-Boston, Jamestown, Oakridge and Williamsburg.
>Kitchen upgrades at Arlington Science Focus, Ashlawn, Barrett and Carlin Springs.

Show me a list of most recent builds/renovations.

No more work on North Arlington buildings till South Arlington gets a major overhaul. (Especially since that’s where the majority of the students are)

A one-time project coming out of the pandemic vs. basic infrastructure updates.

Absolutely not relevant, except to Republican trolls.

Oh come on. Everything doesnt have to be rubber stamped.

Ok. But HVACs? Roofs? Kitchens? And yes, the career center updates.

It’s really disgusting that adults are willing to use kids as pawns because they’re still butthurt about the pandemic.

They have packaged it this way to get the Montessori stuff passed. Grow up.

Precisely.

Tell me no funds will go to option schools and I’ll vote yes.

It’s a perfect example of APS making terrible decisions when given a huge chunk of money. Of course no one trusts them anymore!

That money should’ve gone to a number of resources that could’ve helped students at the time. Trying to make their own Virtual Virginia was an asinine decision.

That’s only part of the package. We shouldn’t do any of these infrastructure updates because you don’t like option schools? Option schools educate APS kids FFS.

Do you even have kids in APS?

Yeah, so strike Montessori from the list and then we can talk.

Off the top of my head, for SA:
Fleet ES new school 2019
Abingdon ES addition 2018
W-L annex reno

This bond does include updates for SA schools.

And totally irrelevant to the question....

Should we fund some basic infrastructure updates across APS schools? Yes, we should.

This isn't some wacky new idea to deal with an unprecedented situation -- this is updating roofs FFS.

You people are horrible.

Is APE anti-option? I thought some of their kids are In Montessori?

New school for all of the kids whose parents came here illegally that our taxes are paying for? My kids are almost done with APS.

Montessori is in SA and mostly enrolls SA kids.
