Well that comes first, you don't just usually jump into something without the planning

But MPSA gets dedicated funds? While the others get a lousy “study”

GTFOH

That’s after they studied and planned and talked for years.

Are you dense? This is how they start projects.

That makes no sense. Projects can run in parallel. And neighborhood schools should be funded as need arises — broken HVACs and kitchens aren’t renovations those are functional maintenance.

yes, and the studies are the first step in making this happen. The studies are literally the design process. The career center planning process happened 5 years ago. So, yes, it's "ahead." But again, vote no and you just delay everything, including the design process for the next schools.

Can't wait for the fight about the next schools... Tayor versus TJ. Oh boy.

No that's after the last school board stacked the decks to bump MPSA to the top of the list. APS' original plan was for schools in worst shape to get a feasibility study and then figure out how to stack the projects for funding. But CDT, DP and BZS voted for MPSA to get moved to front of the line.

Your vote on this is about as significant as voting for president in Massachusetts.

But, yes, do your homework and vote!?!?

It hasn’t ever happened. I’m still voting no but it makes absolutely no difference

I've voted no to everyone for the past 5 years, never makes a difference. No description, and the bonds are frequently just used for pet / glamour projects.

We were about to close a school and re-allocate hundreds of students. Where did the money for that go?

Nope. MPSA was already in the plan from the previous CIP. It wasn't bumped up at all. The CCWG was 5-6 years ago now and MPSA was part of that plan then.

Here you go. MPSA moving into the legacy ACC building was approved in 2022 after advocacy from JFAC and FAC:

Upgrading HVACs is a glamour project?

That was just a proposal—it never made it into a budget or CIP. There was no “money for it” ever set aside or submitted as a bond initiative.

None of this matters. Arlington never votes down on a bond.

Yes, but it's telling who does not support our schools.

Voted Dem for the entire ballot, yet voted no for this bond.

The school bond passed with 77%. For comparison, the community infrastructure bond passed 72%, parks 78%, Metro 79%. Only utilities had significantly more at almost 86%.
But once again, let us all remember that while loud, the “no’s” remain significantly smaller because this county understands the need to invest in all kinds of bonds for the future. Schools included. Thank you voters.
