The ad was probably trying to use an "all publicity is good publicity" approach to getting their name out there. And it worked. Here we are talking about whether simulated masterbation is now considered decent enough to weave into political ads.

yeah it's not a Harris ad. not made or promoted by her team.

but it's also um, quite unsettling if you're a dude and raises a good point. like do we want a world where dolores umbridge is regulating our morality?

Suuuuure. Right.

I work in advertising and have done a lot of political ads.

The concept of this one is good but it's extremely poorly executed and acted and clearly produced by a political ad firm who do not have enough experience to follow through on the creative in such a way that it fully 'lands'. Which is sad bc it could have been good.

If this cut landed on my desk i'd fire everyone involved in making it. Amateur hour.

But why?

I don’t see what’s wrong with ad, do you?

Because it’s gross. That’s why.

These are the people who made the ad:

IMG-5591

So the ad shows a man graphically masturbating in bed, watching porn on his phone. Suddenly, an old white guy in a suit appears in his room and stops him from watching porn, and then says he’s going to watch him-as he stares intently at the man- so he doesn’t finish. The man is a republican elected official.

I think it’s the grossest and worst political ad I have ever seen. What do you think?

It's the kind of ad that only certain groups of people would create or enjoy watching and give their approval.

I think it's the only kind of ad that gets through to men who are obsessed with sex.

If they vote republican this election, they can count on losing their porn access. And also losing access to most women -- every dude will have to be baby worthy and able to support a child in order to prove themselves worth to get to have sex, if there is limited access to contraception for women and health care for women.

I don't believe for one second that porn is going to be banned but I just want to push back on regulating morality. All laws to some extent are based on morality. Is murder moral? No. Is stealing moral? No. Is fraud moral? No. Etc. Etc.

Putting FAKE fear=votes for dems. Just like the crap about abortion now it's DONE it's the state level they're still saying if trump wins you won't be able to get an abortion or birth control anywhere. ALL lies to get votes it's not possible. Lot's of people are that stupid they don't get it and will still vote on this fake fear the left has created. You lie to the dumb masses and get the votes you need=the dems playbook. They don't even take the time to educate themselves it's sad.

There are clear plans to outlaw abortion nationally using the Comstock Act. Attorneys General in 3 states have challenged the availability of the abortion pill on the grounds that reducing teen births injures their states because it will reduce their representation in congress (population will go down if teens have fewer babies). It is not a done deal that a national abortion ban will happen, but Trump will be handing power to those that want it.

Right now pregnant women are avoiding travel to the states with Trump abortion bans because they fear for their health should they have a health event in those states where doctors could be jailed for providing necessary healthcare.

You can lie to yourself that this is not real but it is, in fact, a lie.

This ad was done by someone with a very low opinion of young adult men. Next week the question could arise: “How come we did so poorly with young adult men?”

The entire Harris campaign towards men has been absolutely bizarre. I find it incomprehensible.

This is the stupidest thing ever, appealing to supposed conspiracy theorists who really think someone in the government is “watching” them somehow? LOL.
They aren’t gonna fall for it

They would never ever force people to use programs like Covenant Eyes like speaker of the house Mike Johnson uses with his son. That would be super intrusive which the government never is.

Republicans CLAIM to not want intrusive government yet they want to insert government into consentual relationships and marriages because of whatever the couples' gender is, they want to inspect the genitalia of little girls as young as 5 before letting them use the bathroom or play sports.

"Get big government out of our lives" is a huge lie that Republicans tell.

Even if that’s true, other ads did great with young men, like this one

Nobody buys the inspecting genitalia hysteria, you creeper. A cheek swab for athletes is entirely reasonable. The fact you go to genitalia is why you are losing hugely on the related issues, because you are absolutely creepy and nobody normal wants anything to do with that.

You truly believe that this isn't fake propaganda produced by any one of the Trump sympathizers? You can't really be that gullible.
