Called my PCP and was instructed CWC is the only one she would recommend. |
I’ve been going to RHJ for a long time and had two kids with them. Not dealing with OB anymore but I really like Dr Muangman and Dr Smith — they are both great. Have allo seen Dr Jackson and Dr Busch and think they are fine too. I did have a bad experience with an older doctor who has since retired or moved to a diffetny practice (not Reuter or hill)— actually I think I had two bad experiences and I think it was the same doctor both times.
The office on 19th st has historically been kind of a zoo — I’ve only been going to the one in Chevy chase for the past 5+ years now, and it seems a little better. I cut them some slack on the disorganization because there are so few practices that take insurance now and still do OB, so I think the ones that do are just a little overwhelmed. Honestly. I feel bad for the doctors that chose this as their specialty—the system is such a mess. |
They are closing because doctors weren’t treated well there and many started to leave- got to a tipping point where it no longer made sense. I’m sure insurance costs didn’t help. This is what I’ve heard from two OB friends in the area.
My understanding is that they were legally obligated to tell us 90 days before but no sooner. I assume the doctors were asked not to tell us in advance. It’s really a shame because it was such a great practice not so long ago. It’s worth asking the doctors who are leaving where they are going. I have heard very good things about the practice at Georgetown, which is where I plan to go, if you are open to switching hospitals. Plus there’s a nicu and a high risk department in house, which is an added plus. Good luck to everyone! |
Not treated well by whom? |
I’m also confused “by whom” because I thought it was a practice group and the doctors were partners… there’s no outside ownership group right? |
I can’t imagine pregnant women or women who want to become pregnant wanting to go to one practice for gyn care and another practice for OB. Just so inconvenient. So by switching to gyn only, it basically becomes a practice for women post-childbearing, only. I guess they’ve decided that’s financially viable? I know Foxhall has been around a while so maybe they have enough patients who have delivered with them over the years (and are done having kids) to sustain a gyn practice. |
CWC and Bloom are both not accepting new patients. Only appointment I could get is with RJH. May have to switch hospitals from Sibley, but want to try to stay close. Which providers deliver at Holy Cross? |
CWC near Holy Cross (silver spring I think) delivers at Holy Cross - there are two lovely OBs there but I hated one I saw so much I changed practices as I had no control over getting her for delivery |
thank you! ![]() |
The practice at Georgetown is awful. Rushed, and not great in the delivery room. Another woman and I were completely missewn after delivery (and stitched in a real hurry). |
Is anyone else having a hard time getting medical records? I’m 26 weeks along — just outside the 1/20 date — and they told me they have a backlog of requests and have no ETA on when they can send the records. I got a lovely PR response from the “liaison” they hired saying she understands my concerns during this difficult time. 🙃 Maybe instead of spending money on a temporary liaison and a PR consultant to write the vague letter they sent out with the exact minimum 90 days notice, they should have hired temp support to handle records requests? I can’t just download my record from the portal because there’s no imaging and 2 visit notes are totally missing — and the new provider I’m trying to see will only schedule me for an appointment after reviewing all notes, labs, and imaging. My Foxhall doctor said she’d see me for my 28 week and GD test, but I do not want that! I want to start rotating through docs at the practice group I’m moving to so I can meet them and they can get to know me/etc. |
Simmons is further out in MD but they may be taking new patients. GW MFA was good a few years ago but had a ton of turnover since then and I know people who had a lot of issues there. |
I was able to get my medical records from Foxhall today. I was emailing with the records person, and she had me fill out an authorization form and send it back to her via email, and then she was able to send my medical record as a PDF through the portal, which is now working again. I was then able to go into my new practice’s portal and upload them there. Hope you get yours soon! |
That’s promising! I filled out the authorization form yesterday morning, emailed with her Thursday and today, and she said she was working on it. But still nothing. Fingers crossed I get it Monday. |
Ugh. I left them when they went concierge. But I ADORE Dr. Green. Still sad not to have her - my last is 8… |
