Outrageous. How is this not a consumer protection issue for the patients currently (or until recently) under Foxhall’s care for an ongoing pregnancy. |
When did you reach out to Bloom? They told me they would call me back to tell me if they can fit me in. |
Have been thinking of researching this once I get an OB and my records because that’s enough to deal with. It’s messed up how the patients are basically left to fend for themselves to find alternative care. |
It’s the end of an era! Beckerman delivered my 12 and 14 year olds, and many friends’ kids around the same time. I had to leave his practice when he stopped taking insurance, and I was so sad about it! I was such a nervous wreck when I was pregnant, and sick with hyperemesis and other things both times and he was such a reassuring presence. |
Under HIPAA if the records are not received within 30 days it's an OCR complaint. And 30 days is an "outer limit" ...These are active pregnant patient files not archived records. Some posts indicate that the practice is presenting barriers to the patients requesting and receiving their PHI. Go to Timeliness in Providing Access. https://www.hhs.gov/hipaa/for-professionals/privacy/guidance/access/index.html |
Interesting. I’m the PP who said this is outrageous above. Not my area of expertise, but maybe some complaints to the right agency (maybe in DC?) would at least prompt Foxhall to speed up the records issue. These are active patient files as you said, and not providing them can make it difficult for patients to receive the care they deserve — especially since the patients weren’t looking to change doctors in the first place. Terrible look for Foxhall. |
They are in DC. DC has an ombudsman office that helped me get all my records from MFA when they suddenly shut their allergy practice

Dr. Messenger now seems to be in Bethesda. She was good treating me as gyn.

I think she's at Mary's Center: https://www.maryscenter.org/staff-members/lauren-messinger-md/ |
Malone, Pardo and some other doctors at Foxhall hadn’t/haven’t been doing OB for awhile. |
I delivered with MFA in 2023 after the major turnover. They have hired many new doctors since I delivered there, too. It was great in 2023. I wouldn't be surprised if you can be seen there even without your records. |
Different facts, but I also was essentially misdiagnosed by RHJ and their behavior after was atrocious. Sorry I don’t have another OB rec. |
RHJ doc missed 2 polyps while my insurance paid thousands at her surgicenter. |
The problem is for patients currently pregnant and past a certain week—other practices won’t even schedule you without reviewing your records. Liability issue for them. |
I’ve been happy with RHJ during and since my high risk pregnancy in 2020. There are lots of providers and I definitely clicked with some better than others, but I was confident in my care throughout. The nurse practitioners are nice too and a great option when you need a quick appointment. I would also routinely drive to Falls Church or CC to see my favorites (I had a ton of appointments and decided to try to see the same 1-2 doctors throughout even though there was a good chance I would be delivered by someone different.) Personally I’ve found the front desk staff really good since the merger and the office space downtown is really nice. |
