We're talking about degrees of mediocre. None of it's great, particularly at younger ages.

Do you find it exciting traveling more than two hours for your 12yo play a “college showcase”? over your long weekend? I mean your kid may not even stay in her current club for the next season. What a waste of everything. The reason you come and post here against a local tournament is to excuse yourself for your ignorance. ECNL is the main reason the soccer environment is becoming so toxic. WAGS has been a long time local tournament that used to gather community and if level of competition has changed is due to leagues like the ECNL absorbing everything for them like a big monopoly. They don’t care for the player, the families, the community, nothing.

Wags is still a solid local tournament. It's not the best showcase event, but it's a decent tournament.

Don’t worry about Clueless parents. They don’t realize College coaches start scouting U15 Spring and that is only for the USYNT pool players. Real scouting does not begin until Spring of U16. There are some scouts at Fall tournaments but mostly DII and DIII with a D1 here and there. College teams are mid season during this time of year. WAGS and Bethesda Cup really aren’t College events.

ECNL Showcases after November and GA Champions League are the main scouting after that. Jeff Cup after that.

Sorry if this hurts anyone’s feelings but take it from a parent who has already gone through the process.

The U12 bracket with teams playing 11v11 is ridiculous. Multiple 8(+) - 0 games.

We enjoyed yesterday. Good field and parking situation (it’s never perfect, but better than most / many tournaments), lots of strong teams, beautiful weather, and most importantly, we had really great refs.

There were a couple of calls the opposing sideline was upset about, and the ref actually took the time to explain them at halftime. He obviously didn’t have to do that, but I thought it was really cool.

More importantly, they got just about every call right in both the games we played in, and the ones we watched between games.

I don't think it's ECNL that makes things so toxic. It's the ECNL parents. Back on subject, so apparently Jeff Cup is where college scouts go to find their backbench players...
